Thornton hasn't shown me anything. No way I count on him "finding his game" in year 1 of the Nico era. You just cannot pin your hopes on a guy like that. Fools gold. At this point, it's just as likely he is what he is and a mistake vs being a real threat in this offense. It's like continuing to think Milton was going to have the light come on and he'd become the next great thing in college football. No. You have to get another difference maker to pair with Brazzell. McCoy is a nice blocker/possession receiver but not a guy who will challenge you deep. Squirrel is a nice story, but again, he's not a guy who DC's will fret over in game planning. If we can't lure another burner from the portal, we'd better pray that we've struck gold with Matthews and/or Staley and that they're both very, very quick studies. Of course, if we don't upgrade at the OL, Nico won't need to be worrying about the deep ball because he won't have the time to let the WRs get deep.
