Vols vs Florida Atlantic? Thoughts?

That may have been a concern as a first round opponent, but I don't see our team being cocky with anyone in a Sweet 16 game. There is just too much on the line. That rugby comment was ignorant too. He was referring to Australian Rules Football. That's not rugby.
Where did I mention our team being cocky?

It's all up to TN. If they come in a play serious for 40 minutes they'll win by 20 +. If they muck around for 20 minutes it'll be a nail biter at the end. Madness always brings out the WTF in the Mid Majors. Play 40 minutes and it's not a factor.

From what I saw they have one guy. Put Mashack on him and should shut them down.
Now us scoring.....hope it's an on night or should I say ON night

They are in the 20s in Kenpo.. 21st I think

Fairly Dickinson was 274
And Fairly Dickinson was with them the whole game…a couple of layups made and they may have won. I think we will overpower FAU and get them frustrated. They will settle for throwing up 3s and hopefully they will miss them at MSG. Go Vols!

A couple? They missed so many easy ones. I don't think we miss those shots

My concern is how do we stop their break away baskets. They are extremely fast and can score a lot of points if they can get defensive rebounds. We have not faced a team as quick or fast as they are. We have to get some offensive rebounds and score on second chance points.
LOL!

We have not faced a team as quick or fast as Florida Atlantic? Seriously? You mean you think of FAU as being quicker than Alabama and Arkansas?

I’m very afraid that the “TN plays dirty” narrative is going to be an influence on the refs…..and NOT in a good way. So STFU, Jay Bilas

Maybe but Jay respects TN. He ranked them as the 7th best team in the tournament. FAU is last. He knows we're good but probably sore we beat his Dukies

When will we know the referee assignments? Pray to God we don’t get Adams or Shows!
The NCAA keeps that information on lockdown until about an hour or so before tip-off.
I think we force them to drive. Plant our heels on 3 pt line and trust our help defense and size which they will have to shoot over. If we are efficient offensively there is no way they can stop us. They want a shootout from the perimeter. We shouldn’t give it to them.
The objective is to force almost every team off the 3-point line, some more than others. However, this FAU team can drive the ball better than most are letting on. From watching our team all season, if the ball handler gets by our initial defender, that’s when our defense isn’t as effective. We are forced to help and over rotate which hurts us vs good ball movement teams. Against a 4-guard lineup like FAU that can light it up from 3, the on-ball defense will be the most important.
FAU is ranked high in Ken pom because they play nobody.

Look at their micky mouse schedule, are you kidding me
KenPom adjusts their ratings relative to schedule and other factors which aims to place all teams on an even playing field, so their weaker schedule is factored into their KenPom rating.
Big Game Syndrome. Tennessee has experience with this. Does FAU?
This is a huge stage for FAU. A lot of nerves to be tested. A whole week to contemplate. If we had played the next day or the next day after yes.
A 4 day prep time is enough but experience vs a first timer may be the difference.
Everything goes out the window at this point, but what you can't toss out the window - Experience.
Some of our players have played at MSG that is an advantage in itself.
It is a Big stage.
Not only that but MSG can be tough on a team that relies on the 3-ball. Pros make it look easy but for teams that haven’t played there, it can be tough sometimes.

I mentioned this previously but look at FAU’s typical margin of victory. They whooped a lot of teams this year.
Yea and that’s played a big role in the KP ranking, however they’re also 9-1 in games decided by 5 or fewer points, we are 4-4…that’s why I mentioned earlier if it’s a tight game late they will have confidence.

The 2 6’8” guys don’t play, so that leaves 2 guys over 6’4”, and neither play at the same time, they rotate 1 at a time and sometimes don’t even play either and have a 6’4” guy as their 5 man…they are very small.
And neither of their post guys are as talented as our 4 post guys IMO

They have 5 different guards who have all scored 20+ in a game this year…
Once again - against who?

Not understanding why you are choosing to police the optimism by the fans on the forum. We are very fortunate and will face one of if not the weakest team left playing. Be happy! We all know our team has suffered through tough scoring droughts and if we can’t throw the ball in the ocean Thursday then we likely lose. The factors to win this game are all on us executing our offense and defense and if we do so FAU is going home.

If we play really well they don’t have the horses to beat us IMO. Do you think if our guys play anywhere close to our ability FAU can still beat us? I don’t. I look at most all the other teams still playing and I can’t say the same. I’m not cocky nor overconfident as we can certainly lose if we turn the ball over repeatedly and shoot poorly.

Laught all you want. Missouri is not as fast as FAU and we lost to them even when we had ZZ. Went longer have ZZ. Fortunately, we have more size than FAU, both we really have not played well against quick teams who put pressure on our outside shooters. Our inside game should help if we can get the ball inside. I doubt that ON will have another 27 point game, but it would be easier if he did. In addition, we will need to hit our free throws, if we get the opportunity. The refs could control how we play. I think we win the game by 10 or so, but we will have to play well to do so.
