Vols vs Florida Atlantic? Thoughts?

The 2 6’8” guys don’t play, so that leaves 2 guys over 6’4”, and neither play at the same time, they rotate 1 at a time and sometimes don’t even play either and have a 6’4” guy as their 5 man…they are very small.
Speed kills. Size punishes. Let's see which carries the day...or in this case, the night.

Feel like someone should bump the “thoughts on Loyola Chicago” thread and see just how confident fans were heading into that one too.
Didn’t we find out late that Alexander was out for that game? perceptions likely changed a bit when that became public knowledge

Once again - against who?

Not understanding why you are choosing to police the optimism by the fans on the forum. We are very fortunate and will face one of if not the weakest team left playing. Be happy! We all know our team has suffered through tough scoring droughts and if we can’t throw the ball in the ocean Thursday then we likely lose. The factors to win this game are all on us executing our offense and defense and if we do so FAU is going home.

If we play really well they don’t have the horses to beat us IMO. Do you think if our guys play anywhere close to our ability FAU can still beat us? I don’t. I look at most all the other teams still playing and I can’t say the same. I’m not cocky nor overconfident as we can certainly lose if we turn the ball over repeatedly and shoot poorly.
Lol ok man, I’m just gonna have to stop with you. Vols win this one with their eyes closed, got it.

Nope - we have to play to our ability and if we do so FAU can’t match us. This is my only point yet you keep trying to poke holes in it. If you truly think FAU can beat us if we play well then just say so. Your opinion is likely more valid than mine

You’re saying our A game is needed to beat a last place SEC team (your opinion), that doesn’t make much sense. From reading your posts you sure make it sound like our C or D game beats their A game, and I strongly disagree with that take as I’ve made clear. If both teams play their A games then yea, I think we win. I think if we play a B game and they play A game it gets scary.

I’m saying our A game beats FAU’s A game and our B game beats FAU’s B game, etc. our B game may beat FAU’s A game but I wouldn’t be completely confident. I don’t know that our A game beats the other 14 teams still playing, but maybe.

Please bump where I’ve said we can ply poorly and still expect to win cause I haven’t.

As much as I hate Missouri, Kobe Brown is one of the best players in the SEC besides Miller.

Our team had no answer for him and it’s not like FAU really has a go to guy that can just take over a game if they want too.

Can FAU score the three? Absolutely but we’re one of the best in the country at guarding the three point line.

I don’t think Missouri and FAU is really a good comparison. Just my opinion.

Forrest and Martin dropped 18 and 20 against Castleton and the Gators at their place. Martin scored 16 at Ole Miss. Martin dropped 30 on UAB, Davis 36. I think we have the defensive capacity to keep all of them in check but there is no strategy of shutting down one guy against them.

Yep and that was the Achilles heel in 2019. We made everyone look like the Splash Brothers ... The white dorky guy from Purdue had a career night shooting 3's.

You literally said they are 1 of the worst teams we’ve played all year and that they’d finish at the bottom in SEC, that doesn’t equate to needing our A game to win. We didn’t need our A game or B game or even probably C game to beat South Carolina, Alcorn State etc.

If you disagree with me fine - that’s part of message boards. But, there’s no need to attempt to put words in my mouth. I believe I said they would be in the bottom third of the SEC and they are possibly the least talented team still playing - completely different than what you’re attempting to assign to me.

You literally said “highly unlikely they’d be top 150 in Kenpom” if they played in SEC, that means they’d rank 13/14 SEC teams only in front of South Carolina.

You also literally said “we’ve played 20+ better teams this season than FAU.” We’ve only played 28 teams, so according to you who are they worse than? 8 lowest ranked teams (TN Tech, FGCU, Butler, McNeese, Alcorn, EKU, Austin Peay, South Carolina)

So neither of those things were putting words in your mouth. You’ve literally stated they are the 13th worst team in the SEC, and the equivalent to playing 1 of the low major buy games or South Carolina we played this year which we typically won by around 40 points.

I think they’re somewhere in the middle of the teams we’ve played based on watching them this weekend. I may be completely in left field, but I don’t give the same weight to Kenpom rankings for a team that hasn’t played a decent schedule.

Which of their players would make our rotation? None jumped out to me
I did a quick scan and found this

Good post except I don’t think FAU makes the NCAA tournament if their current team played an SEC schedule as I think all the teams you listed above are better except Colorado. JMO
And this. Don’t find anything close to what you’re saying. I don’t follow Kenpom so maybe I’m completely wet concerning when they would be ranked if they played in the SEC since I don’t know where any teams are ranked on Kenpom. My point was Kenpom stats were one of the only things to support FAU being a toss up game and that I didn’t believe those stats are an apples to apples comparison even though Kenpom attempts to make up for scheduling differences.

These are all my opinions as usual. If you think FAU is a top SEC level team, tell me which of their players would you take over our guys. From watching their last 2 games that number is zero to me

My reaction after watching many games over the last 4 days is that the refs are letting them play for the most part, especially under the basket. I don't think they will change this for any one game.

I still bet Coach has instructed our bigs, especially Uros to start the game by staying in their own cylinder and do their boy scout impersonations. If the ref's antennas are up early we need to avoid the early fouls and creating expectations/trends for the whole game. You can play strong and within control.

Saw where Outkick ranked the 16 teams left with predictions. For whatever it’s worth (and it’s probably not much), they ranked UT third behind Bama and Houston. Said we’d beat FAU and Kansas St and lose to Bama in the FF.

It's hard not to like where we sit. I see the requisite amount of poo pooing going on ... but if you had shown this Sweet 16 draw on here 2 weeks ago? Nobody would have believed that our luck could ever be this good.

Like I said I literally copy and posted your quotes, use the search feature if you’re looking for them. If you want to change your tune that’s fine and a different argument, speaking of putting words in people’s mouth do you have the quote where I said they’d be the Top team in SEC? You literally said via kenpom they’d be 2nd worst team in SEC, if you aren’t sure what something means then maybe it would be smarter not to say it then or word it different? You then went on to say they’re 1 of the 8 worst teams we’ve played, I laid out the worst teams we’ve played, South Carolina and like 7 buy games, you’re the one that said they are that bad, not me, if you want to adjust that barometer go ahead.

My contention with your take on them has been your stance laid out above, you think they’re on pace with South Carolina or a Alcorn State according to your post, I disagree a million percent, but don’t move the goal posts about how you feel about them and then act surprised when I point out that that wasn’t what you were saying.
