vols vs sooners question

There's 5:15 left in the first qtr of the Sugar Bowl and I'm pretty sure I've already seen enough of Oklahoma to know we're in for a very long day next year in Norman.

I just texted my buddy who I'm going to the game with. "It's going to be a long ride home from Norman." Haha.

OU will have shot their wad after this game and be as over-confident as Spurrier was this year.

Yeah, I'm a homer, come at me, bro!

Next year the Chattanooga game will be a sure win and most likely KY. We should beat Ar St. and Utah St., but nothing is guaranteed. I am afraid it is going to get worse before it gets better. We will be very young, but the good news is help is on the way.

It will take a miracle to beat Oklahoma.

Taking the orange colored glasses off, I see OU winning this game by 4-7 points. OU is the better team in this match up, now going out on a limb and saying the next year in Knoxville, I see the game going the other way.

If you'd like to give me OU -7.5 vs UT I'll take it for your annual salary.

I would say the team will be much more prepared than when they travelled to Oregon.

I see a lot of false starts and a couple early sacks that kill the drive, maybe a turnover. They get down early, 21-3 at half. A very promising 2nd half but 34-20 final.

They're decent. I know a few OU fans and the consensus among them is Blake Bell is garbage. Not sure what they consider garbage though.

I thought so also. Unfortunately Trevor Knight will likely start against us, and he is amazingly good. :banghead2:

I hate to be a negative nancy (or negavol) but I can't help but think we take a step backward next year. You'll see some young talented freshman but we are replacing every single starter on the O-line (big loss) and D-line (not top tier talent but they beat out everyone else) that scares the crap out of me. Vols have never lost 8 games ever. One of just two schools to do that. I hope (but fear it will) come next year.

Yeah I think 8 losses is a real possibility next year.

OTOH, the East will be about as down as it ever has been, and Butch tends to do better in his second year based on his two previous stops. So if Malzahn can go from 3-9 to BCS championship, maybe Butch can get us to a bowl in spite of the schedule, maybe even eight wins?

At my most optimistic we could beat Vandy, UK, Florida, Ole Miss and maybe take one of Uga/USC/Mizzou.Bammer while winning 3 of 4 OOC games?

It's not that far fetched, maybe. Florida is as bad as they have been in 30 years, Uga replaces Murray, USCe loses their QB and I don't see how Mizzou can repeat this year's miracle (but maybe they can) and frankly we should have beaten Vandy this year even with an inexperienced QB.

He was good for this game. Remember he didn't win the starting job for the whole season. There is absolutely n guarantee that he will ever be that good again.

Are they gonna be loaded next year or rebuilding ?how do they measure up against the vols? Ihave family in Norman and just wondering if yall think it could be a game we could win? Dont wanna make the long drive to watch us get blown out

It probably won't be pretty. I would stay home.

Blackledge made a good point about Oklahoma's defense last night. When Bama fell behind, they had to spread it out and start passing more. He said that was an advantage for Oklahoma because they are built to defend the Big12's spread offenses.

He's right, and that isn't good for the Vols.

This is the kind of comment we hear too much. I had buddies that didn't go to our BCS game, "cause Fl. St. is gonna kill us".

Real simple, either be a fan and support your team or stay home!!

" I wudda have gone if I knew they were gonna win?"

The concerning thing to me is OU didnt back down from bama's physical play one bit. They matched alabama hit with hit. No many around here have recently and certainly not Tennessee. I believe the Tennessee program will get back to that level one day under Jones but Tennessee will be one of the youngest, if not the youngest teams in the country next year. Not much quality in the sr and jr class.

Who scheduled them? Hamilton? Dooley? Worst freaking mistake ever.

Why does it matter?? UT plays a top program every year. That's the way we do it, and have for a long time. So why whine about?!

If this place didn't force coaches out so much then maybe we would be better prepared and less worried.

This fan base seriously needs to look at the 3 fingers pointing at them when they keep pointing that 1 at everyone else.

On a side note: looks like OU found them a QB. Tough to prepare for a team when u don't know what ur going against. Nice move by Stoops.

Why does it matter? Because we are starring at the 3rd year in a row of not going to a bowl game. That matters, A LOT. Call me crazy, but Id like to see us in a bowl game

Maybe if Hamilton didnt hire two clowns in a row and schedule us against murders row every year, we wouldnt be staring at a 3rd year in a row with no bowl game.
