Wake up, Americans

Or it's those people who've simply hijacked the term.

What one sees depends on where one sits. When you've got the oath keepers , proud boys and the shaman all claiming that title, it's hard for regular folk to make time to distinguish them from the traditional conservatives that also stake claim to the term.

The patriot tent is large and welcoming, but it behoove someone to be a gate keeper and keep the riff raff like I previously mentioned out.

The left is no different. They've let loons come in and control their messaging. And none of the rational ones speak against it in fear of being labeled an -ist.

Yikes. This is the kind of language you see the CCP using -

“which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government”

" (1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions; "

I recall watching this happen with the FBI, CIA, DOJ in the last administration, culminating with kicking the legs out from under our election process. Lot's of folks roaming through the halls of this forum who are fully bought into and helped "proliferate false and misleading narratives."

I made no distinction on partisan lean, but since you brought it up - it's the fringe right that seems to be the ones who are looking to hijack the term "patriot," presumably in hopes that it will be viewed through the same lense as history has portrayed the revolution from England.

It's not working... If anything, it's staining the term.

I know you didn't, just pointing out it's a nationwide problem. Our main disagreement would probably be the numbers. I think the "fringe right" is a much smaller subsection of people than you would like to believe.

People have had entirely too much trust in our government institutions which has allowed them to assume more and more power. No one should have trust in our government institutions, we all should be looking at them with a skeptical eye.

Certainly.

I was talking about the .gov using that to crack down on the citizenry.

Plenty of people know and agree, but half the country is begging to live in their overlords servitude.

Half? It's more than half. More like 80%

These days a Patriot = Trump supporter = a redneck racist.
This post reminds me of the protestor marching in Charlottesville, Virginia from August of 2017, who was asked by a Fox News reporter why he was opposed to the removal of Confederate General Robert E. Lee's statue and responded,

"Robert E. Lee was a true American patriot."

The word "patriot" has been bastardized by extremists who now use it to describe people that fight against the government, rather than people who support and defend their country.

Its true from certain peoples point of view. While you might not agree with it (neither do I) you should try harder to walk in other peoples shoes, show more empathy, have less bigotry.

If you say anything against the government’s narrative online, you can now be considered a terrorist.

While the conditions underlying the heightened threat landscape have not significantly changed over the last year, the convergence of the following factors has increased the volatility, unpredictability, and complexity of the threat environment: (1) the proliferation of false or misleading narratives, which sow discord or undermine public trust in U.S. government institutions;
Well, I’ll be damned! If I wake up dead, y’all know what happened.

The word “patriot” simply means any man or woman willing to fight for their country. In our case freedom within it since we’ve always had it.

Here's the issue:

The left was crying foul and screaming we need to do anything to get rid of Trump and his admin. The right is now saying the same.

I think they're both right, but as long as people gauge their happiness with government on a partisan curve nothing changes.

"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of "Men who wanted to be left Alone".

They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love.

They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it.

They know, that the moment they fight back, the lives as they have lived them, are over.

The moment the "Men who wanted to be left Alone" are forced to fight back, it is a small form of suicide. They are literally killing off who they used to be. . . .

Which is why, when forced to take up violence, these "Men who wanted to be left Alone", fight with unholy vengeance against those who murdered their former lives.

They fight with raw hate, and a drive that cannot be fathomed by those who are merely play-acting at politics and terror. TRUE TERROR will arrive at the Left's door, and they will cry, scream, and beg for mercy . . .but it will fall upon deaf ears."

Technically he did defend his country on two separate occasions
