The issues at A&M and Auburn do not surprise me in the least. Both squads are full of mercenary guys that are there for one rea$on. Heupel has a bunch of guys that want to be here and actually care about winning and have a little pride in themselves and their team. I’d even lump teams like Georgia and Alabama into the Tennessee group. It’s the same thing that caused the downfall of Orgeron at LSU.I think we need to be careful in recruiting any of these A&M guys. Sounds like a number of cancer personalities in that crowd. CJH has shown a strong belief in developing his culture and he’s not going to recruit problem children.
NIL is going to be big here too. Nico isn’t coming here solely because he loves Knoxville and UT so much. The issues at A&M and Auburn do not surprise me in the least. Pruitt was in that group of mercenary coaches as well. Most of his players didn’t care one bit about playing for UT or being in Knoxville.
Of course all of this is JMO...
Exactly. He isn’t coming here solely for money either. I’m sure it’s going to happen at Tennessee eventually but out of the gate it’s happening to A&M and Auburn. I’m not dogging a kid for getting paid, I’m talking about a kid who’s heart may be in Knoxville but his head is telling him to follow the $$ signs and go to college station. The majority of the time, if the hearts not in it, it’s not going to work out.NIL is going to be big here too. Nico isn’t coming here solely because he loves Knoxville and UT so much.
They guy that averaged over 4 YPC as a true freshman behind an OL that had 2 6’2 280 pound walkons and a converted RS Freshman TE starting along with a stacked box because we couldn’t throw the ball consistently? Yeah I remember himGuys with recruitments like this often take their eye off the ball. They don’t have an impact. Remember Brice Brown?
He was a solid backup here, but wasn’t a superstar. And he had a middling career at K St and made the NFL as an undrafted free agent. Brown is the highest rated recruit UT has signed during the internet era. A lot of drama for not much production. They guy that averaged over 4 YPC as a true freshman behind an OL that had 2 6’2 280 pound walkons and a converted RS Freshman TE starting along with a stacked box because we couldn’t throw the ball consistently? IF….Tennessee were to take him it would be totally on Rodney Garner’s terms and not some handler. That is the reason I think he shows up at either Bama, Memphis, or Ole Miss. The first because of salary and the second two because of proximity to Memphis. If he wants to come back to Tennessee you don't turn him away. Todays recruits are being lured by lucrative deals and the young man and his family went with the best deal for the market value. His journey has been chronicled and I'm sure CJH and CRG would address everything, if they sign off then I'm good.

It might be if he goes to Ole Miss or Memphis. But not at Tennessee or Alabama. It’ll be on Walters in the end. One time transfer, here (next school) for two years before he declares. Schools don’t turn down kids like him, especially if you know he can’t transfer again. Also, his brothers in play so there’s a long game to Warren.
