"Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, he was just so doped out on oxyconton that he missed his flight... Rush says he hopes Obama fails, well i hope his kidneys fail..."

"Sarah Palin isnt here tonight, she had to pull out at the last minute, not a good way to promote abstinence"

"I told my kids that if two cars pull up and its a stranger and Dick Cheney, get in the car of the stranger"

The whole time these classless comments were being made the Barackstar was laughing enthusiasticaly. Of course the next day his office apologized for the 9/11 comments.

Then the attack on the Palins, I mean seriously, she is trying to do a good thing and help prevent teen pregnency, yet again is attacked because she is conservative. They are not on board with the Obama plan, therefore they are automaticaly demonized.

I normally think Wanda Sykes is funny, but some of this was over the top. It seems we have more of a movie star then a president. What does this show the rest of the world? That we are constantly degrading each other in forums such as that, taking cheap shots and what not?

thoughts...

I think that 9/11 jokes are generally off-limits. It is actually a pretty funny joke if she could have worked it into a different event...but not 9/11.

I think that people need to take it easy with Bristol Palin...if they want to make fun of Sarah....ok...

I think that the last joke is funny and is fine.

Yah, its just the duality of what we have right now, if someone made some kind of joke about Obama they are a "teabaging racist"

She is a comedian...they are supposed to push the envelope. I don't think she meant dishonor to 9/11 nor do I think she wishes Rush Limbaugh dead. The real crime is that it really wasn't all that funny.

Is it just me or is Obama having a little too much fun? The guy has made his rounds as a celebrity...huh?

eh who really cares? It was maybe the wrong forum but it was still a joke. Kinda similar to Bush joking about looking for WMD's under the table at a dinner he held right? Neither group has a sense of humor when the joke's directed at them/

and the irony of a woman preaching abstinence to the country while her daughter was getting knocked up is too funny to just let go.

the best teachers are the ones who have been through it, so who better to talk about abstinence someone that can tell you straight up the troubles, or some group that hands out purity rings and makes you sign some sort of stupid promise?

dont really see how comparing someone to a terrorist hijacker for being hard right and wishing their death, or bashing someone for trying to do something good similar to a joke that was really aimed at no one, except maybe his self

she was preaching abstinence before her daughter got preggers. If she can't teach a class of 1 then how does she really think it will work nationwide?

I mean, I don't want an electrician coming to work on my house the day after his burned down from an electrical fire.

well first look how a kid's mind works, at the age she is/was the kid wants to rebel, plain and simple. The attacks mostly have been aimed towards Bristol Palin anyways, BUT, someone is trying to do something good, however because that person is hard right, she is cause of scorn

isn't prerequisite number one to be funny? she has never met the requirements.

selling abstinence to HS kids is worthless. The only people who buy into it are the ones who need an excuse for not getting any. It's an outdated thought that needs to be dropped in favor of real changes to help prevent teen preg.

which is why most of the stupid programs have failed, Prom promise etc" someone with real expierence is going to be listened to much more then some stupid group.

so for her fighting for a cause is a reason for scorn?

by that logic: i think the red cross is too old school, f*** them, no one listens to the st jude telethon, so they are stupid for trying to help, etc

Absolute nonsense. I'd suggest leave this business to parents and they can choose to teach whatever they wish at home. But maybe the Obama's of the world can come up with these "real changes".

no problem at all with that. Once she proves she can conquer her own house then she can preach to mine. But when her 17yo daughter is walking around with a baby on her hip it kinda shows me that she doesn't know what she's talking about

Instead of the Red Cross I would compare it to a Dr teaching that leeches can cure cancer.

The issue here is the double-standard. Feherty's comments about Nancy Pelosi were ripped apart just recently...but when Sykes says the same stuff about conservatives, it's funny apparently.
Here's the thing. I don't think she was particularly funny, but I also don't think it's as big of a deal as everyone is making it out to be. The desire to be offended baffles me in this country.
This Fairness Doctrine will be the beginning of the end of our democracy.

Oh, and I do think Obama looked unprofessional as he laughed so hysterically at everything Sykes said.

So according to utvolpj, Obama should be telling everyone to experiment with cocaine

if you're somehow drawing the conclusion that using cocaine generates the same drive in people that sex does, you should simply stop.

I can understand you point to a degree. But should I not teach my children to try and avoid mistakes I made? They may still make them, but should I not try and help them avoid them?

As with her, maybe she did a poor job of teaching her daughter. Or maybe she did a good job of teaching but her daughter still made the mistake. Either way, does it make the idea any less acceptable? To want kids not to have to go through what her daughter went through?
