Want to continue sucking? Then don't hire Bruce back

UT ranks behind Vandy at #46 in recruiting - I dont see any reason to bring Martin back - Pitino Jr is my pick if Pearl really has no chance like some say.

We had more than two walk-ons in 2010. Pearl, Hubert and Cannington are three. That was McBee's freshman year; he was walk-on. That's four. And, I just read that Josh Bone was not on scholarship until his senior year, which was the following year. That makes five walk-ons in 2010. If you're limited to two, that must be a very new rule, but this is the first I've heard of it. I still remember the CBS crew gushing over how many walk-ons we were playing at the same time against Kansas.

yeah, the guy that made the final 4 three times and then wouldnt bow down to the LA AAU runners. I'll take him.

This. I'd take Howland in a heart beat. He got fired because he no longer recruited the LA area...we'll guess what he wouldn't be recruiting there anyways. His last recruiting class was Shabazz in Las Vegas, then Kyle Anderson, Jordan Adams, and Tony Parker were all east coast and Adams and Parker were from the Atlanta area. I think he'd do more than fine here. He could go into a recruits house with his 3 final 4 rings and shake the recruits hand and say "hey do you know Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook?" Well I recruited and coached them.

Bruce would have lost today too genius.

Your absolutely crazy!!!! Bruce could take this talent and turn it into elite 8 status with his eyes closed. Bruce could flat out coach. He had set plays, out of bounds plays, knew what matchups to go with Bruce was just a COACH! Counzo couldn't hold Bruce's jockstrap!!!

Not sure if serious.

Its funny you people always talk about the winning with Bruce pearl, but rarely do I ever read about some tough losses with bruce at the helm. I think bottom line is we need more playmakers.

Bruce averaged winning 24.8 games a year against much stiffer competition than your coaches mid season DII team just to get another W that he can't earn on his own.

He went 19-15 with 2 McDonald's All-Americans in the starting lineup. He won more games with Buzz's recruits than his own.

Bruce isn't coming back...............but if you think that Martin is the answer then you all are SADLY mistaken! Do I think we have the talent to be an elite 8 team? No! Sweet 16? Maybe! But I do know we are 4 wins better than we are showing. We are poorly coached and all I see on the court is street ball at its worst! JMO.............

Bingo. That's what it is.

He's as right as you are. Understand where I'm coming from?

No. He's not.

You said there's plenty of evidence that Pearl is a better coach than Martin (I agree). There's also plenty of evidence that Pearl would have lost today, more than evidence that he would won.

If you're merely pointing out I can't say for 100% sure Pearl would have lost today, ok, but that doesn't mean my reasons for thinking that are less logical than someone who merely spouts that Pearl definitely would have won.

usually try to stay out of this but just wondering what offensive coaches would have trouble scoring more than 56 pts at the 1:00 mark when outrebounding the opponent 2 to 1. Once again, announcers talked about an efficient offense. We need points. Screw efficiency right now.

Bruce Pearl had no idea whatsoever about how to coach offense. If we didn't make a transition dunk or three, we waited 33.5 seconds and jacked up a three from half court. It's all he knew. This roster is not engineered to run, it's built to win in half court. Pearl would be clueless as to how to use it, Kentucky would have prevented the transition today and beat us by 26, and Pearl would be 6-11 because unless he has a transition based team he is totally clueless.

Apparently you have no idea about what offense and defense in a basketball game are. Pearl used the half court offense in his elite eight run. Tell us what kind of offense CCM has used in one of his elite eight runs in the tournament.

You're both talking in absolutes.

The fact that there is even a discussion about whether or not we make the dance at this point in the season speaks volumes as to where Coach Martin has taken this program. We should be talking about what seed we might get. Instead we're discussing whether he'll get fired this year or next and who'll replace him.
