War in Ukraine

You can call it splitting hairs, but I have watched in the last 10 years 20 percent of the workforce at one place I work at be slowly replaced by robots. More of that is coming. It will require half the workers to run an assembly line in 10 years at some places. The workers that are left are slowly getting paid more too.
Yeah, slowly.

I wonder if the rate of savings due to efficiency improvements is at the same pace as wage increases?

Even more is that we need to face reality and readjust/reset expectations and labor costs here. Unfortunately that's one of the big factors that politicians use to divide the electorate. Dems helped back organized labor for the vote beginning decades ago and sold the country down the road. You can have higher and escalating labor costs for only so long before the whole Ponzi scheme collapses. We're becoming Greece by living well beyond our means when we aren't insulated and isolated from the rest of the world.
Lower standard of living in other words.

So for you Boomers, I don't want to hear you speak another word about alleged lazy millennials or GenZs when you all even acknowledge that the country is in decline and your children and grandchildren will not have the same earning potential and standard of living that you all enjoyed.

Ukraine is the most corrupt european country west of Russia because it borders Russia. Its been the kremlins strategy to be surrounded by countries with broken backs incapable of presenting a threat to them, also being reliant upon them.
It was Biden, Pelosi and Kerry last I checked that was running the show over in Ukraine, not Putin.

I think everyone is aware Ukraine was once a Soviet satellite. Sounded to me like he was saying Russian goals from their point of view.... Which is correct..... To annex parts of it's former satellite.......... Which, by the way you dismissed as Putin's goal at the time.
Now what are you talking about? In 2014 when the Donbas held referenda to declare their independence and rejoin Russia, Putin rejected the referenda in hopes of the Minsk agreements being implemented.

Satellite? No, these regions were collectively called Novorossiya during the days of the tsars. They were part of Russia... not satellites. And even in Soviet times, it was all within the same country of the USSR. Only 30 years ago were these areas separated from Moscow.

Any way you look at it. There will now be a no fly zone. Not with pilots, but with air defense: That's a **** tonne of air defense. they will not give up what they have gained. On a side note, I noticed the US transferred arms from the middle east to Ukraine. The kind that can be launched from these systems. I found that interesting.

It works when people move with the trend - when one door closes another opens. Cars replaced the horses, for example. The dream that automation will replace human labor and humans will benefit by moving into higher level trades is a myth. If you still employ the number of people supposedly in higher skilled positions to produce and operate the automation that replaced them; then you are paying more for the same labor plus the capital cost of the equipment. It doesn't add up. The "excess capacity" to build more through automation requires more consumption - where do the extra consumers come from? We're living the fantasy that a service oriented workforce can replaced a production oriented workforce - it can't. Manufacturing, farming, and other production adds value to products; service doesn't and there are losses in just moving money around.
So tell me, what is going to replace Starbucks barista, Doordash driver and Instagram modeling? Because that is basically all we have at this point.

The better question is probably why do people need someone else to fix coffee or cook for them? You're on your own with all the people receiving information from supposed experts on Instagram, YouTube, etc - definitely not a boomer thing - we obviously don't have anything worthwhile to pass along.

To be honest, the young people growing up really aren't able to do that even. Right now older Americans are doing the real work and skilled/semi-skilled illegals are filling the void.

The millennials are going to be wiped out.

I was already aware of it. But he's still a United States Marine with lots of experience and credibility because he was one of the very few Americans who said WMDs in Iraq were bogus and airpower alone couldn't achieve victory in Iraq. Everyone ridiculed him for it, especially Joe Biden, famously a pedo himself, but he's the pedo you support. Now we know Ritter was right about that and Biden was wrong, but it's too late. The Americans who died in Iraq aren't coming back. But here the USA is with a similar set of circumstances and it's In Biden We Trust part 2.
Nothing screams credibility like a two time child sex offender who has received money from the Russians

Doordash, UberEats, Grubhub, Instacart, etc are one of the reasons we are seeing employee shortages in restaurant and retail.

There's more to it than that....
