Hot take from someone who didn't know who Yevgeny Prigozhin was until a few minutes ago.

I knew the Wagner group but I didn't know the leader's name. That's an odd criteria to meet when giving an opinion about the outcome. I don't think knowing the name of the leader of some militia groups is important.

Thats assuming that that their nuclear arsenal is event combat ready. After looking at the rest of their troops and hardware, I'd say probably not even remotely close.

From the way other Russian weapons appear to work ... unless they are intentionally targeting civilians, then the Russians are as likely to nuke themselves, a friendly country, or a NATO country as they are to hit Ukraine. The chance of a misstrike only diminishes as proximity to the launch site increases.

and the US security concerns are "we don't want nations to invade other nations, and yes we are willing to back that up with violence." so yes, that does conflict with Russia's "security concern" of "We should be able to invade whomever we want". and yes that is the entire point of a defensive alliance, to keep nations from invading others, so its not contradictory.

Unlike Russia and its CTSO with Armenia, the US is actually willing and able to fulfill its requirements.

My bet would be that Pootin was thinking Russia could have veto power with NATO like they do with the UN. Then they could keep doing stuff while making sure NATO and the UN were neutralized.

Actually what it states Larry is that targets protected by GPS jammers are more difficult to target. That’s common sense. Those are targets like the Kersh Bridge. That isn’t a group of Vatniks holing up in a building.

Also it looks like they need to roll out those AGM-88’s we provided and clear out some of those jammers. Problem solved.

Jammers have made dandy homing targets in the past. The jamming people usually figure it out and turn them off, so targeting jammers is a win/win kind of game anyway.

Putin's grip on power increases if citizens think they are in danger from the outside. It's a standard political con. Our group is mistreated and in danger from the other group, and I'm the only one who can protect our group.

There's a big difference in civil war and communist style civil war. Civil war means there are two or more internal sides who want the country run differently. Communist style "civil war" is always sponsored by external communist states; it's a take over - not a civil war ... except as propaganda.

You're right, but at that time there was alot of worry about trade and shipping lanes being interrupted by a communist country.

So much for that hypersonic missile being uninterceptable.

I was thinking about that issue and remembered a conversation my brother and I had several weeks ago. I said something about Russian long range air to air missiles, and he pointed out you know longer that you've been targeted and have more time to evade. That's when hypersonic missiles made sense ... until you look at the other side of the equation. The faster they go, the less easily they can maneuver, and the more predictable the trajectory. Whether you look at it from a velocity or momentum standpoint, as velocity increases, it becomes increasing harder to alter and correctly alter the path to track an aerial target. It also would mean an air to ground missile would be more predictable for an intercept. The keys to intercepting a hypersonic missile would appear to be prompt detection and being close to the line of travel - you aren't going to win a tail chase.
