War in Ukraine

Told you. Russian propagandists aren't about to pass on an opportunity even if they have to manufacture it. The publicity is an attempt to get biden to back off supplying and/or further limiting the use of US supplied equipment. The bad part is that the dems are flinching and the Russian plan is working - regardless of who actually moved the vehicles into Russia or how the vehicles came into their hands.

How long before they drag the remains of US munitions across the border?

They need to investigate the Nordstream bombing before they deal with this.

Russia’s S-350 missile launcher outshines US Patriot air defense system, says expert

"The American equipment is always more overestimated. The Vityaz will be far cheaper in its cost than the similar Patriot system. It is far more advantageous to buy Vityaz systems as Russia is a considerably more reliable partner than the US," the expert explained.

The Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system can be compared to the US-made Patriot in terms of operational characteristics. However, Russian missiles fly faster and have the capability of striking low-flying targets, he said.

"The Patriot does not shoot down targets flying at an altitude of lower than 100 meters whereas the Vityaz knocks out targets at an altitude of 10 meters and higher," the expert stressed.
you mean Russia is reliable in the way they claimed their hypersonic missiles couldn't be defeated? But they have been by the same Patriot system the Russian's are knocking in this piece.

or do you mean reliable in the way where they haven't been able to honor all their weapons deals with India, or defensive alliance with Armenia?

A preview of how UAF modern tanks will handle Russia's big, scary WWI dragon's teeth, trenches and mines.

So, not only can they be pushed aside, but they can also be pushed in front of the vehicle as an additional (but probably not terribly effective) shield. Another stroke of brilliance by the Russians.

Interesting article, but when they call Elizabeth Warren a "reformer", it loses credibility. Anyway. A couple of important points popped up in the last two weeks, and I'm not finding one article, but to a great extent the government set itself up for the "industry price gouging" in at least two ways. I believe the article I'm not finding said it was during the Clinton administration that defense contractors were urged to merge, and the number of major defense contractors has dropped basically into the single digit range. We go through this same BS time after time; we bust monopolies and open fields with limited competition, and then a few years later congress and regulators are allowing mergers all over again. What good is it to have anti-monopolistic laws if your ignore them ... and worse create the "too big to fail" nonsense that requires bailouts?

In the other article US Air Force wants to avoid F-35 mistakes on sixth-gen fighter you get this about how the military screwed up the F-35 acquisition by basically not owning the rights to the equipment. It really doesn't make much sense to blame contractors when government stupidity sets the rules.

“We’re not going to repeat the, what I think frankly was a serious mistake that was made in the F-35 program” of not obtaining rights to all the fighter’s sustainment data from contractor Lockheed Martin, Kendall said.

When the F-35 program was launched more than two decades ago, Kendall said an acquisition philosophy known as Total System Performance was in favor. Under this approach, he said, a contractor that won a program would own it for its entire lifecycle.

“What that basically does is create a perpetual monopoly,” Kendall said. “I spent years struggling to overcome acquisition malpractice [on the F-35], and we’re still struggling with that to some degree. So we’re not going to do that with NGAD.”

not all, maybe not any, of the challengers, or other western tanks are going to have those engineering upgrades (plow).

IMO it would be a waste of their best vehicles to use them as something to clear obstacles. I would think they would run a dedicated ex-soviet engineering tank along with the normal western ones to clear those obstacles. Keeps their best vehicles free to fight.

I am sure we will hear about how they were shooting down some western aircraft on a super secret special nuclear mission. or this was going to be another false flag by Ukraine. or it was a traitor aircraft heading to Belogrod, and they blew it up before anything could happen.
