War in Ukraine

Salient point to remember over the next 48 hours. If only our Russian sympathizers had understood this over the past year or so.

If only the war at all costs crowd would entertain the thought of is it worth risking nuclear war with Russia over a border dispute (Russia v Ukraine) a just barely slightly less corrupt country in Ukraine the United States would be about 70 thousand million less dollars in debt.
You do understand Wagner vs the Kremlin has nothing to do with either of those situations, right?

You do realize that Wagner is a military contractor group don't you?

I was curious if you had lived in Maryville. We did for a while back in the '50s; the Alexander family went to the same church that we did according to my parents (have to say I don't remember myself). We knew the Proffitts and several other families; I lived across the hall from Fred one year at UT and ran across some others I knew from Maryville days. Lots of interesting people in Maryville. I grew up an AF brat, and Maryville was probably the place I liked most. If we hadn't been attached to middle TN, my parents would likely have retired to Maryville.

One branch of family was out of Cades Cove and Townsend, the other branch was successful businessman in Alcoa living in Maryville. I was born and grew up in upper ET. Spent a lot of time in Murvule and live on lake now.

Are you going to lecture PKT on military matters?

Hey @Rasputin_Vol, hoping you can trot out your list of false Ukrainian hopes for victory. Weird how you've gone silent on us on such a historical evening.

Do you think Prigozhin will protect the Russian speakers of Rostov? I'm sure he's just trying to maintain their linguistic history.

Wonder if Putin is questioning whether it was a good idea to give an ex-con chef a bunch of weapons and allow him to round up and arm ruthless criminals as his henchmen.

Hopefully this little debacle is opening eyes all around the globe. We need to ditch Blackwater and any other wannabe contractor/mercenaries here immediately. Should never have even let them germinate from a manure covered seed in the first place.

If you study Russian History, this is pretty par for the course for them. Lose a war and get a regime change. Happened with WW1 and Soviet-Afghan War.

Oh ****! Ben away from the internet and TV since Wednesday, come back and Russia's about to fall.

We'd been on vacation completely ignoring the news and were on the way back home years ago. Then as we were eating breakfast in a motel, we saw the Soviet Union had collapsed. It's one of those WTH moments; you go away for a few days and the world changes.

I had CQ and watched it unfold on a little black and white TV in the barracks at Redstone Arsenal. Had no concept of what was playing out.
