War in Ukraine

Yes or no. Have you stopped beating your wife?

Remember back in the 90s when some Osama Bin somethingorother pronounced that his peeps "declared war" on the US? Remember how 99% of us had no idea who he was or what he said.

I knew who he was. I knew that Clinton tried to kill him with a failed missile strike in '98. And when a plane hit the 1st tower, I immediately thought Bin Laden.

Not taking that threat seriously resulted in 3K civilians dead in NY then a 20 year war with Afghanistan and another 2.4K dead soldiers.

Medvedev, the ex-President of Russia, has repeatedly threatened to global nuclear war. You gonna take him seriously or no? If no, please explain why.

When did he make this threat? Oh yeah it was recently since NATO has been financing the Ukrainians in the war against Russia, got any more examples of threats against NATO prior to the war? And what's stopping Russia from launching a nuclear attack on a NATO nation? Hmm, want to take a guess on that one?

Let's try this once again:

Provide a link to your claim that "no NATO country is ever in danger of being attacked by Russia."

Also, Google's your friend:

What did Medvedev say about a nuclear apocalypse?
  • In September 2022, he stated that Ukraine's accession to NATO will accelerate the outbreak of World War III. In early July, Medvedev once again resorted to intimidating the world with a nuclear apocalypse, although he also said that a nuclear winter could be avoided if the West fulfilled all of Russia's demands.

did we cave to all of Russia's demands? I don't believe we did. Seems like that danger has either passed, or, more likely, was never real.

Dud you are ate up. Russia invaded Ukraine in Feb of 2022 so as I said the war was already underway and NATO countries were already supplying war material and aid. He also said for context:

"Let's imagine that Russia is forced to use the most fearsome weapon against the Ukrainian regime which had committed a large-scale act of aggression that is dangerous for the very existence of our state," Medvedev said in a post on Telegram.

Medvedev's remarks quoted the exact terminology of one of the conditions of Russia's nuclear strike doctrine: "aggression against the Russian Federation with conventional weapons when the very existence of the state is threatened".

How about this, prior to Russia's invasion of Ukraine can you post a link where Russia threatened a NATO country with military action?

You tell me.

July 31, 2023:

Ex-Russian president Dmitry Medvedev threatens ‘global nuclear fire’ over Ukraine counteroffensive: ‘No other option’

Again, AFTER the war was well underway.

Got any threats pre-war? Otherwise you are doing a great job of proving NATOs assistance to Ukraine has lead to NATO being less secure and under threat of attack.

Not sure if you're serious. If serious, lawdy... bless your heart.

Apparently, you missed the whole "Cold War" thing, bro.

Putin Warns NATO of Military Response as U.S. Seeks Dialogue

December 21, 2021 at 9:34 AM EST

President Vladimir Putin threatened a military response to counter NATO expansion toward Russia’s borders, but said he hoped for a diplomatic solution to rising tensions as the U.S. said it was ready to discuss his security demands.
The U.S. and its allies “must understand that we have nowhere to retreat further” and Russia can’t allow them to deploy missiles in Ukraine that would be a few minutes’ strike distance from Moscow, Putin told senior officers Tuesday at the Russian Defense Ministry. Russia will “take adequate military-technical response measures and react harshly to unfriendly steps,” he said.

Behind a paywall.

Keep floundering because you keep proving assistance to Ukraine has made NATO less secure.

Hmm... well Finland and Sweden are joining NATO so... guess you know more than both those nations, huh. LOL.

I feel dirty. Like I'm bitch slapping an old man who can barely walk much less talk.

You've made yourself look dumber than normal, quite an achievement on your part.

Sharp tongues / dull minds.

So, brass tacks: If NATO is weaker now, help me understand why Finland and Sweden are joining?

(ALSO: You realize 95% of the PF folks here are being forced to quickly skip this bullsh*t thread. Just. Stop.)

Buddy it's you that made the claims and then proved yourself wrong.

Not only that, this is a World War I style war. No large amount of air support is available for either side because of the SAMs that both sides possess. IT will be slow going for either side now that both sides are dug in. Remember Bakmut for the Russians? Tons of casualties trying to take a small space of land. Now the roles are reversed.

Large chunks of the land Russia holds is really no man's land - settled by mines and clouded by artillery cover. As one article pointed out days ago, it's probably going to be an artillery battle for a while with no big land gains.

I remember thinking, "f############ck I was just about to get out of the Air Force".
