War in Ukraine

Large chunks of the land Russia holds is really no man's land - settled by mines and clouded by artillery cover. As one article pointed out days ago, it's probably going to be an artillery battle for a while with no big land gains.

Agreed. If Ukraine really wants to take the land back, it's not happening anytime soon.

Just curious, but we are going into the one year anniversary of this conflict and the Russian economy is still humming along and the ruble is as strong as ever. I'm just wondering when the Ukrainiacs are going to draw a line in the sand and say "If the Russian economy/ruble doesn't crash by _________, then I will admit that these sanctions have been a failure".

Will you say June/July 2023? Next October? February 2024? When will these sanction begin to kick in and punish those damn Ruskies?

Enjoy your crow, comrade Ras.

The ruble has plunged to its lowest level against the dollar since war in Ukraine began as Putin's economy sputters

A lot of signs pointing to escalation into worldwide conflict.

Biden just secured the release of prisoners in Iran by unfreezing 6Billion frozen in South Korean banks.

Just one of many signs.

No, but look who is allied with who....

Why the need to do this now? Why unfreeze assets that were frozen for specific purposes. It may be a coincidence but given some other recent signs I find it more likely there 's more to it.

they were American prisoners apparently. there doesn't need to be any more reason to do it than that. at least this time we didn't trade a war criminal for a basketball player.

It was 6 billion we froze to sanction them for nuclear weapons production. That's an important concession to make.

Yeah... you don’t get it. The sanctions war on Russia was a wake up call for the rest of the world. All of the Non-NATO aligned countries realized that if they don't follow the orders of the US, they risk regime change AND confiscation of assets. At that point, countries began to look for the exit doors to get away from the USD.

They've been trying to do that for years.

But never against a country the size and importance of Russia... Now everyone is aware that no one is safe from the wrath of the US.
The wrath of the US. Too cute love.

Also, tell your boys to properly dispose of their cigarette butts. Another thing went boom in your favorite city.

Failing... but trying nonetheless.
