War in Ukraine

not that I have seen from outside the US, most comprehensive I have seen was for WW2.

Consumer spending in World War II: the forgotten consumer expenditure surveys : Monthly Labor Review: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics
*note that this study says the spending went down on recreation but notes that price controls were present during wartime. and it includes a couple things I don't think of for recreation. They include education as entertainment, and don't really explain what personal care means, separated from medial care.

sounds like they spent more but moved it from some categories to another.
So, the opposite of what you said!

It should be obvious that away from the front people in wartime try to live normal lives as much as possible. I hadn't really seen that concept embodied in a study, though. Not that I ever looked.

No, he's saying this winter Russia will have more available. You can't just flip a switch and have instant artillery production.

That would suggest either Ukrainian forces are wasting shells faster than NATO can produce them or Russia is out producing NATO.

Wait a second. This guy is trying to tell us that with all of the manufacturing might of NATO that Russia (essentially a 3rd world country) can outproduce the west in artillery? If that's the case we might as well pack up and cut our losses.
Ras is going to be upset about this. Apparently Russia is Sovereign Citizen's paradise.

about half of their entertainment drop was from education. I don't consider that entertainment.

I mean I guess I am splitting hairs on their study, but I am defining entertainment by my personal standards, and not one that considers education entertainment.

Let me get this straight.........Belarus is hosting a shadow army of mercenaries that is provoking it's host countries neighbors but somehow Belarus is acting as if it's neighbors misgivings are unreasonable?

This is circus clown level side show antics right here. Do you write for the Babylon Bee?

Amazes be how RUS commanders *know* the range of HIMARS, yet their forces behave with such impunity.

Scratch 10+ sitting ducks.

180,000 tungsten balls right up the keister.

FYP

Remember when the shoe was on the other foot between 2014-2022? When NATO was arming Ukraine on Russia's border? How about the US and The Soviets putting missiles in Cuba?

2014. Hmmm. Was there something around that time or before that would cause Russia’s neighbors to get a little nervous? I can’t remember, I guess I am just going to go read about vacation spots in Georgia and Crimea.

Well, that's pretty much a lie.

From 2014-2022 the US gave Ukraine a total of $2.5 billion in military aid, which is quite literally "nothing" in terms of actual armaments.

"Since Russia’s 2014 invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea, the United States has provided some $2.5 billion in military aid to Kyiv, including unarmed drones, radios and Javelin anti-tank missiles. "
White House freezes Ukraine military package that includes lethal weapons

I'm not sure how to take this.
Is this the start of some backpedaling?
"We never intended to take any land. We just wanted security guarantees. If we give back land, that doesn't mean we failed."
Both sides have been softselling their losses over there recently. The Ukrainian offensive is winding down/ending, instead of saying it was defeated. Russia is starting to claim they didn't want the land, and that the loss of almost 5000 VDV specialists was no big deal.

Georgia was a case where NATO pumped up Saakashvili like they are doing Zelensky right now. Crimea has been Russian since Catherine the Great and before the USA was a country.
