War in Ukraine

Trump in Phone Call Advised Putin Not To Escalate in Ukraine - Washington Post

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine, the Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of "Washington's sizeable military presence in Europe", the Post reported.
That seems to have helped...bigly.

This illustrates multiple problems.

1. even during good times support is going away at some point
2. there is no off ramp even if you want to negotiate

What is there to negotiate at this point? Russia doesn't want to take care of Western Ukraine, never did. The issue is nobody wants the remaining part of the Ukraine and them being "neutral" will not work out.

It would seem like for long-term peace... either Poland (Europeans) need to agree to annex Western Ukraine or Russia pushes all those Ukrainians into Poland. (which is what I said 2 years ago more or less)

The U.S. created the mess and will leave it to the Europeans to figure out. At least Georgia appears to have not fallen for the same practical U.S. joke, although they are in grave danger as well.

What has been solved in 2+ years or changed.... NOTHING.
