War in Ukraine

Trump in Phone Call Advised Putin Not To Escalate in Ukraine - Washington Post

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President-elect Donald Trump spoke on the phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday and discussed the war in Ukraine, the Washington Post reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Trump advised Putin not to escalate the war in Ukraine and reminded him of "Washington's sizeable military presence in Europe", the Post reported.
That seems to have helped...bigly.

Donald Trump Jr. shares video mocking Zelensky: "Losing your allowance"
This illustrates multiple problems.

1. even during good times support is going away at some point
2. there is no off ramp even if you want to negotiate

What is there to negotiate at this point? Russia doesn't want to take care of Western Ukraine, never did. The issue is nobody wants the remaining part of the Ukraine and them being "neutral" will not work out.

It would seem like for long-term peace... either Poland (Europeans) need to agree to annex Western Ukraine or Russia pushes all those Ukrainians into Poland. (which is what I said 2 years ago more or less)

The U.S. created the mess and will leave it to the Europeans to figure out. At least Georgia appears to have not fallen for the same practical U.S. joke, although they are in grave danger as well.

What has been solved in 2+ years or changed.... NOTHING.

Dang. Sadly, I agree with him getting charged but not surprised that USA could have special forces in Ukraine. Scary thing is that if Russia finds one of them at the front, it could be considered a possible act of war. Scary.

US weapons inspectors had been in Ukraine for months, and it was public knowledge.

Teixeira leaked classified information on China, North Korea, and several Middle-East nations, while chasing clout from other incels on a Discord server.

He's not the "Ukraine whistleblower" that MAGA is trying to make him out to be.

It will only get worse.

There's a reason Elvira Nabiullina has attempted to resign numerous times since Putin instructed her to go scorched earth with the capital controls the central bank has implemented.

Trump's Win Unlikely To Substantially Change US Stance On Ukraine: Lavrov | ZeroHedge

Lavrov in the wide-ranging interview on state-owned channel Russia-1 articulated that Moscow's view is that Washington's stance on the Ukraine conflict is unlikely to change significantly even under the Trump administration.

Pretty much what I said after the election, I actually don't think much changes from the Russia POV at this point. There is no off ramp and unless someone presents a reasonable off ramp than I would assume they must continue the meat grinder. Whether or not Trump continues to support and send money to the 51st state is a whole other issue.

No, its not about being aware of the issue, the U.S. planned it this way.... see Congressional Record. She is better than most of them but she is still off target. Its not a lack of "acknowledgement", it was a plan. I expect the meat grinding to continue for the foreseeable future with or without Trump. I wouldn't expect the neocons and deep state to take all this lying down, long way till January.... lots of ways and time to make the situation worse for everyone.

was rejecting Ukraine from NATO in 2008 part of the plan?
what plan was being pushed in 2014? no offer had been extended to Ukraine by NATO. Ukraine had not applied again. what changed?

Zelensky: "The War Will End Faster" Under Trump Administration | ZeroHedge
Russia is open to talks to settle the conflict in Ukraine based on the proposals that were announced at the Foreign Ministry in June, Russian President Vladimir Putin told German Chancellor Olaf Scholz as they spoke by phone, the Kremlin said.
"As for the prospects for a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict, the Russian president noted that the Russian side has never refused and remains open to the resumption of the negotiations that were interrupted by the Kiev regime," the Kremlin said in a statement. "Russia's proposals are well known and outlined, in particular, in a June speech at the Russian Foreign Ministry."

My take nothing has really changed, Putin's proposals are likely years to actually implement even if parties agreed... and there is no guaranteed all parties would even agree with what they are proposing . As mentioned previously, nobody is going to be interested in taking care of Western Ukraine so even if parties wanted to agree to something, there is a great chance in the not to distant future that this is all starts up again. Russia appears to be open to negotiations on the matter but its unlikely for any real agreement to be implemented, more symbolic at this stage.

Even if the U.S. withdraws all support, it might change the time table but I don't foresee any real impact to the results. The Ukrainians have to find a buyer. Whether Trump is President probably won't greatly impact the outcome but it could lead to less or faster stoppage of support.

Grind On. 🪚

PS. I hope Georgia is taking note because if they do what the U.S. and Europe are trying to force them to do, eventually there might not be a way to turn back.

What does Russia even do if the Ukraine unconditional surrenders? Well, I would say good, we are glad you choose to live, here are some walking shoes and some food.... now get walking to Poland.

“Dear Presidents Putin, Zelensky, and Biden. It’s time to put geopolitics aside and embrace the spirit of aloha, respect and love, for the Ukrainian people by coming to an agreement that Ukraine will be a neutral country,” she wrote on Twitter, adding that Ukraine should be allied with neither NATO nor Russia, a decision that she said would “allow the Ukrainian people to live in peace.”

I like the spirit but she is way late on this, there is no easy way to reverse things that happened since she was in junior high. "yes, we super duper promise that we're friends now.... pinky swear this time" (Group Hug). The neocons have setup this up fairly well. I'm not sure this is going to work out the way she thinks. She is not even hinting of any real path to an off-ramp. She seems a little out of her league if she thinks that is what this is about at this stage.

Lol, she didn't even know that multiple NATO members share a border with Russia, and have for decades.

Georgia isn't as pro Putin as some here would lead you to believe

Nobody cares if they are pro putin or not, the only thing that matters is they do what they are told. They have been selected for termination, which is actually something I do think Trump can help with temporarily. Georgia should be making plans to survive medium to long term.
