I keep waiting to see the Congressional Democrats Declaration of War against Russia. Draft it. Debate it. Have a vote.

Until that is passed, I am not sure why we have an obligation or duty to participate or fund any part of Ukraine's war for them.

My guess. Trump wants to take credit for ending the war and being known as the master deal maker. I’m sure you can imagine him taking about ending the war nobody else could. Trump has zero leverage over Russia though. They’ve basically taken everything the west has thrown at them and said “we don’t care we will not stop”. But Trump absolutely has leverage over Ukraine. We’re partially funding their defense and supplying weapons. IMO in his head yea he wants the killing to stop but he also wants to be able to say he ended it. He believes Ukraine cannot win or get favorable terms from Russia so why not just try to end it now.

No EU country or the US is going to put boots on the ground to fight Russia. The best he can hope (in his head) for is a mineral deal that puts foreign citizens over there and maybe that will deter Russia but I don’t think that’s realistic.

To me it seems like Trump is pissing into the wind with trying to end the war because everyone else participating seems to have little interest in doing so.
