War in Ukraine

Maybe it was you who told me that lol

Way to respond to a bunch of stuff I didn't say. I think saying what's happening there has no implications in this country is completely retarded, but that's your opinion. And it has nothing to do with my point.

The idea that Americans can't have an opinion about what our strongest military in world history worth trillions of dollars should be doing unless they want to get on a plane with a glock and a dream is a stupid thing to say. But you know that.
I responded to literally only what you said. You're welcome to an opinion- but don't act like a hypocritical champagne socialist. Put your money where your mouth is. What's "retarded" is virtue signaling about the power of an organization I assume you're not even an insignificant part of that ends up being the one making all the sacrifices. I know the world of the trailer park is small and you have to cling to "wins" where you can, but come on, "lol".

Ukraine confirms Rocket that struck its airport was fired from Belarus - as its leader Lukashenko warns war will become a 'meat grinder' with his special forces poised to join Russian assault on Kyiv

  • Ukrainian intelligence services state a rocket attack on Zhytomyr Airport was launched from Belarus
  • Belarusian special forces were reported to be 'loading onto airplanes in preparation for an air assault on Kyiv'
The Ukrainian state security service has officially reported that a rocket attack on Zhytomyr Airport - located some 93 miles west of Kiev - was launched from the territory of Belarus.

Belarusian special forces were seen loading onto airplanes in preparation for an air assault on Kyiv in what could be a widening of the war, military sources stated.

Videos have circulated of the explosion at Zhytomyr Airport, with reports of shockwaves nearby.

A widening of the conflict to potentially include Russian ally Belarus could signal Vladimir Putin’s growing fury and frustration as the Russian campaign appears to get bogged down in fierce fighting around Kyiv and Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second biggest city. It could also run the risk of sucking in other states including NATO allies, triggering a pan-European conflict.

In a bizarre rant on Sunday, Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko warned that the war in Ukraine will ‘become a meat grinder’.

What's going to be crazy to watch as well is how Russia ends up overturning the governments of their own allies by their hubris.

I don't see that he's saying he's peace loving. I see someone saying he feels threatened. Again, I don't see how all of you will forgive and give a free pass to American-led NATO out of one side of your mouth, then condemn and crucify American politicians (who *cough cough* lead NATO) and their corruption in Ukraine out of the other. It's so goofy how you all will just boil issues to black and white like it's some movie because you like jerking it to war footage.

Sometimes it is simple to see who the aggressor is. Putin started invading his neighbors a long time ago. he has stated that his goal is reestablish the USSR. He can only do that by force. he basically gave us his version of Mein Kampf and we are now to believe that he just wants peace and security. I would agree that NATO and the west have not always acted properly in world affairs, but that is not enough to justify Putin's actions. He is using the NATO memberships in the last 30 years as an excuse to gain more power and to achieve his ultimate goal- a new USSR.

I keep seeing this but nobody's shown where he says that. Donald Trump was a big fan of the Gorilla Channel and pissing on Russian hookers, too.

Progressives think they have another winning argument to make up for Biden being a spineless dolt.

As I've often stated, Putin has always had this ambition but he waited until there were worthless idiots in the WH like 2014.

For whatever strange reason, it appears democrats think this war is some strange rallying cry for their party because the world thinks this was overreach by Putin. This still speaks to the failed foreign policy of this administration namely in Afghanistan that made Putin feel the timing was right. In some ways Ukraine could save the Biden's administration bacon with China eyeing Taiwan if Ukraine is able to drive Russia out or win the heart of much of the world. It won't be because this WH knows what they're doing.

It's funny to see the usual suspects tweeting comments from individual republicans who think the Biden administration bad policy helped lead to this invasion. They think this is their moment to demonize them in hopes of helping this years midterms and make Biden look good.

There has been a lot of decisions made by the Russian military that haven't been very sound.

Well, it's the first "large scale" conflict they've been in since Afghanistan and even that is a different kind of warfare. A lot of the corporate knowledge in how to conduct rapid mobile warfare just isn't there in the leadership.

Ahhhh. another pol calling on his forces to the meat grinder. You look ready for the slaughter yourself porky

I'm considerably more sympathetic to Russian security concerns than most here, but I don't see how Ukraine could possibly agree to demilitarization after this Russian invasion. By ordering this fratricidal war of choice, Putin has taken that option off the table.
If Russia hadn't let a egomaniacal freaking lunatic take over their country, they wouldn't be having "security concerns" with the west.

I just said to my dad something is weird about this. Russia by all accounts is getting their ass kicked, but you look at why and it's just total incompetence. Are they that incompetent or is there something else going on here?

IMO

(1) This is an all-out proxy war. Whether our government admits to it or not (they won't), our military and that of our allies is going balls to the wall to help Ukraine. Our intelligence is critical - sat images and real-time troop movements from drones - allow the Ukrainians to know what's coming and when it's coming (to some degree).

(2) Advanced Western weapons serve as force-multipliers. When the Russian armor / troops arrive, they're greeted from 1+ mile away with Javelins / NLAWs. 1 'unarmored' Ukrainian soldier with these anti-armor weapons can take out a tank w/3 soldiers or a BTR w/up to 15 soldiers. That Russians outnumber Ukrainians becomes less of a factor.

(3) Ukraine's air defense is holding up. After 5 days, Russia still can't achieve air superiority much less supremacy. The Ukrainian MANPAD systems (Stingers) are taking out Russian close air support (mainly choppers). It would appear that Ukraine may be fielding additional, more sophisticated anti-aircraft defenses that haven't been acknowledged publicly. Regardless, Russia's MIG fleet isn't able to support ground troops much... yet.

(4) Russian tactics are being thwarted. It seems the Ukrainians have strategized well in expectation of various defensive scenarios. For instance, Ukrainian ground troops have apparently laid in wait and allowed some of the initial columns of armor to pass unchallenged. Then, hours or days later, when the fuel/ammo/supply truck convoys pass by the same area, the Ukrainians have then ambushed and wiped out these more vulnerable columns - leaving the initial armor without supplies and tanks literally running out of fuel.

(5) Initial troops were cannon fodder. Russia may have sent in initial waves of 'shock troops' comprised largely of lesser-trained conscripts to 'feel out' the Ukrainian defenses. Sacrificing these young, inexperienced troops is not a great concern to Russian brass. But, more experienced veteran troops are likely to follow.

(6) Russian morale appears low and troops confused. Some ground troops have showed signs of unwillingness to bring the fight to the Ukrainians much less fight to the death. And, most importantly...

(7) The Ukrainians are fighting for their lives and homes. Fighting a defensive battle on their home land, they know the territory and they've been preparing traps and plans to kill as many Russians as possible. If they lose, they die or become fief subjects of an autocrat. If they win, they keep their freedom, land and their country.

Ukraine is going to win this war.

Lionheart presidents: Ex-Ukraine leader joins Zelensky on Ukraine frontline as he Begs for More Radio Equipment, Anti-Aircraft Missiles, Anti-Tank Weapons and Thanks 'the American People and NATO' for standing with his country

Ukraine's former president Petro Poroshenko begged the West to send more military equipment to help his country continue their surprising resistance to overwhelming Russian firepower.

Wearing a flak jacket and surrounded by soldiers shortly after returning from the frontline near Kyiv, Poroshenko said the additional munitions are just as important as the sanctions leveled against Vladimir Putin's regime.

'All of the nation is fighting. Instead of the glory flowers, Russia receives Molotov cocktails.'

'I want to thank Joseph Biden, I want to thank American people, and I want thank NATO for their contribution in this success,' Poroshenko said.

Amid lowering morale among Russian troops - who've run out of gas, gotten lost, and been attacked by locals while asking for directions in Ukraine - and strengthening sanctions, Putin ordered the forces operating Russia's nuclear deterrent to be on alert.

Poroshenko said the implications of the conflict could extend beyond European borders.

He added: 'This nuclear madness Putin posed is a much greater threat to the world than Bin Laden. In helping Ukraine to counter the invasion, you are helping yourself to minimize potential loses of your countries in the next phase of the Putin madness.'

Poroshenko and Biden's relationship has a checkered past.

Partially true but again, I pose the question I posed earlier. If Mexico or Canada were openly aligning militarily with China, how would the US react?

You are seeing what the propaganda wants you to see. Take everything with a grain of salt.

I could name several politicians but that is irrelevant as long as it doesn’t happen. I can assure you there are several defense contractors who would be more than eager to be involved in a conflict.
Please enlighten me and name a few. I haven't heard one politician calling for troops to Ukraine. Seriously I would like to know who they are.
