My goodness... the easy solution to all of this is for Europeans to handle their own affairs and we leave or disband NATO in the process. Then, Ukraine can do whatever they wanted. But as long as that US shadow is standing over NATO decisions, it is a recipe for disaster and corruption. Had there been a true and sincere move to get the US out of this regional conflict, we wouldn't be here. And truth be told, I think it would have been highly unlikely that even if Europe came together for a NATO alternative, that Ukraine would have been invited in.I don't disagree that we have had a habit of getting involved in places we shouldn't. A few times it was with good intention perhaps, but you are right that it was not always our fight. However, that doesn't change what NATO stands for which is a mutual support organization aligned against aggressive countries like Russia. If being prepared is considered not neutral, then perhaps you have won the semantics battle; but far better to be prepared for defense than to be overrun because you had no will or readiness to fight.
