War in Ukraine

I don't disagree that we have had a habit of getting involved in places we shouldn't. A few times it was with good intention perhaps, but you are right that it was not always our fight. However, that doesn't change what NATO stands for which is a mutual support organization aligned against aggressive countries like Russia. If being prepared is considered not neutral, then perhaps you have won the semantics battle; but far better to be prepared for defense than to be overrun because you had no will or readiness to fight.
My goodness... the easy solution to all of this is for Europeans to handle their own affairs and we leave or disband NATO in the process. Then, Ukraine can do whatever they wanted. But as long as that US shadow is standing over NATO decisions, it is a recipe for disaster and corruption. Had there been a true and sincere move to get the US out of this regional conflict, we wouldn't be here. And truth be told, I think it would have been highly unlikely that even if Europe came together for a NATO alternative, that Ukraine would have been invited in.

"Fairly and reasonably" would have been allowing Ukrainians to decide for themselves without outside influence from anyone, including Putin. But that was never going to happen.
Ukraine had every right to possibly "want" to join NATO. But what would have made NATO have to accept them in outside of provoking a possible Russian reaction?

I live 10 miles from an AFB with B-52's and nuclear warheads. I will be among the first group to be incinerated.
I’m situated directly between the Colonial Pipeline in Greensboro and Fort Bragg, not mention Seymour Johnson AFB, Camp Lejeune and Cherry Point are all within 2.5/3 hours. I’m not holding out hope these assholes built accurate ICBM’s.

Someone needs to kill Putin now, or stage a
coup. Something .

I'm situated on Lookout Mountain and if I die, I can't imagine a more beautiful place to die in

You are continuously defending Putin and looking to shift the blame. That's not putting words in your mouth, just reporting your actions.
I'm placed in a position of having to set the record straight just like I'm put in a position a lot to defend Trump. Both of these guys have their flaws, but nowhere near what the media and political society will have you believe. And really, the same can be said of any world leader that goes against the US.

You'd be lucky. Anyone not significantly protected will die from radiation sickness. In Nuclear Weapons School they showed us progression pictures of guys dying from radiation. Not a good way to go.

The nuclear winter that would settle in for the next two years would kill everything except the cockroaches (damn, Trump wins again) and the elites (both political and monied) who holed up underground in one of the "secure sites." My last reserve unit worked with those secure sites. Was neat to see the facilities.

If Russia didn't want trouble, why would they be opposed to Ukraine joining NATO? Why does this come back to what Russia wants from an entirely separate nation that should be able to decide for itself?

Lot of fake news on Twitter going around..

This is the thing - a lot of propaganda going around from all directions - not the least from our own media, whom I do not trust in the slightest.

Very hard to get real information in a hot war. Crazy thing is in the social media age, there is more information but less truth.

Putin is actively seeking to impose his will on another nation through violence, slaughtering people. What record needs to be set straight? His "feelings" don't justify his actions.

It doesn't matter what lead up to this moment in time. The man is threatening nuclear war without a single mention of military action on russian soil. If Russia loves itself his throat will be slit within the month.
