War in Ukraine

If you think Biden has anything do do with ANY decisions right now, you are naive. The national security apparatus has stepped in and taken over (thankfully in this case). He is being told what to say and he is reading it aloud. That is about he extent of his personal involvement. After the Afghanistan debacle, there is no way he is being allowed to call the shots on something this dangerous

You know this how?

Seems odd you can either read minds or have bugged the WH and all US intelligence services, the command centers, etc.

The real question is, how do YOU not know this? It has been pretty clear since Eisenhower famously warned of the looming military industrial complex who really calls the shots (pun intended) when natsec is in play. 1600 Pennsylvania Ave becomes the temporary summer help when the REAL powers need something done.
I know Dr Starngelove is fictional, but dang if this over the top quote isn’t actually near the mark

I only read the last sentence of this.
The rest I did not.

Regardless. I said originally we are very involved and even leading from behind.
Not sure why you can't accept that.

According to my buddy who is a senior NCO very near the situation physically, he says the US is organizing every single joint task force support movement there.
Also I dated a girl who now works for the most secure intelligence building on the planet. The Pentagon.
I have her information from the "political " side of it.

Lastly, your opinion is far to a skewed about how foriegn policy operates.

You probably think the US was in Afghanistan because Republicans wanted to figtht terrorism! The reality is the ENTIRE US GOVERNMENT, AND EVERY ADMINISTRATION (Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden) was there for the uranium and Lithium. The Uranium (plutonium) has increased our nuclear arsenal far more than the silly 5,000 weapons we are reporting.

You know some people with loose lips.

My points still stand, you can make this partisan if you want but the fact is this has been handled fairly well so far.

It has been a truly awesome and terrifying display of power.

The West brought a 1,000 yr global power to its knees without firing a shot.

You can't help but wonder if the resolve is getting the attention of Xi. China isn't Russia but being a global pariah for exports and business could collapse any economy. I also wonder how solvent China's economy really is and if it could even withstand the same sort of beating Russia is taking. Xi could just come out and say, we're taking Taiwan, sanction us and we'll melt the island. Then what does the west do?

Some of you are truly, truly idiotic. I've said it before, but it's the only thing that keeps crossing my mind.

"how do you even dress yourselves in the morning?"

I mostly agree, but thank goodness Kennedy didn’t let LeMay run the show 60 years ago. Not suggesting Joe is JFK either.

So just saw a couple of Twitter videos of Russian funerals for war dead. The longer those keep up the more pressure builds on Putin and those around him to remove him.

If Ukraine can hang on for a couple more weeks they will have accomplished what no super power has the resolve to do since this dictator came to power in 1998.
In two weeks there wont be any standing structures to hide in at this pace. Ukraine has days, not weeks.

I think Japan would get involved and in a weird reversal of WW2 pulls us into ww3 as an ally.

This is the same guy you guys dismissed as a warmongerer. Until Trump fired his ass for being too much of a hawk who was usurping authority and undermining him, then you can't cite him enough.
Donald Trump fired John Bolton for being too much of a war hawk?

That doesn't make much sense when you consider that John Bolton's hawkish foreign policy views were well known at the time Donald Trump hired him as National Security Advisor. John Bolton was a frequent contributor to Fox News throughout Barack Obama's two term presidency. Bolton never kept these hawkish foreign policy views a secret, and we all know that Donald Trump was an avid viewer of Fox News back then, through his constant re-tweets of Fox News personalities.

What did Donald Trump think he was getting when he hired John Bolton in the first place?

Russia, China agree 30-year gas deal via new pipeline, to settle in euros | Reuters

Russia and China have most certainly made an economic alliance. There is no way Russia can do anything at this point without China. This might actually end Russia as a superpower as they become a vassal of China.
We did what was needed but we've just run Russia into China's arms. Ideally the Russians would wake up and reject the isolationism road Putin has paved for them. I don't have faith they do this though.
