War in Ukraine

So looks to me like the NATO agreement is the reason why we have seen all of the wars since its signing not require the blessing of Congress. In essence, it side stepped the Constitutional authority of Congress.

All these wars? NATO engaged in no military operations until after the Cold War, 1992 in Bosnia.

Although the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) was present throughout the Cold War as the opposite to the Warsaw Pact, and conducted joint military exercises, no military operations took place. All military NATO operations have occurred after the Cold War when NATO's influence in a post-Cold War rose to prominence in Bosnia where NATO gradually stepped up its efforts to end the trouble. This culminated with NATO's first air campaign in 1995, Operation Deliberate Force, which targeted the Army of Republika Srpska whose presence in Bosnia posed a danger to United Nations Safe Areas and ultimately the bombing helped to bring about the Dayton Accords.

Truth hurts doesn’t it?
We used to call it “exposing hypocrisy”
But whatever helps you cope with the continuous dumpster fire known as the Biden administration. A pleasant wafting mixture of burning plastic, sour garbage, dog waste, urine, and rotting meat. With just a hint of singed rubber.

But at least they don't have to deal with showing proof of vaccination before dining indoors. Only then would they understand what a real loss of freedom is.

Let's not wait till it gets to these proportions before we stand up for our freedoms. If we wait till it gets to where it is in Russia right now then it's too late and we waited too long

All corporations pay zero taxes. The consumer of the corps goods pay the taxes. Taxes are just the cost of doing business, just like raw materials or labor. It's simply added to the cost of goods.
I always love this argument. And actually in a sense it is correct, but...... However, apply that to the rental house you own. Who is paying the mortgage/taxes on that? If you say the renter, then why don't they get credit for those taxes/interest paid?

All of these US wars, sir. I clearly highlighted the portion in Taft's speech where he clearly said that the president can bypass Congress. We haven't had Congress declare war since then.

But the Atlantic Pact goes much further. It obligates us to go to war if at any time during the next 20 years anyone makes an armed attack on any of the 12 nations. Under the Monroe Doctrine we could change our policy at any time. We could judge whether perhaps one of the countries had given cause for the attack. Only Congress could declare a war in pursuance of the doctrine. Under the new pact the President can take us into war without Congress. But, above all the treaty is a part of a much larger program by which we arm all these nations against Russia… A joint military program has already been made… It thus becomes an offensive and defensive military alliance against Russia. I believe our foreign policy should be aimed primarily at security and peace, and I believe such an alliance is more likely to produce war than peace. A third world war would be the greatest tragedy the world has ever suffered. Even if we won the war, we this time would probably suffer tremendous destruction, our economic system would be crippled, and we would lose our liberties and free system just as the Second World War destroyed the free systems of Europe. It might easily destroy civilization on this earth…

US Gov't 101 teaches that only Congress can declare war but the President can start one. That has nothing to do with NATO.

NATO is responsible for the freedoms now enjoyed by eastern bloc countries like Poland and East Germany and a case can be made that it's also responsible for freedoms in western European countries as well.

Putin wouldn't have needed to invade because Trump would have been there for the parade of Russian soldiers into Ukraine, saluting them as they went by.

It’s a fascinating study of human behavior to watch specifically you and also some others on this forum that refuse to let go of the Trump / Russia narrative.

You guys need to understand that this place has been a hive for trumpism and I've already been hacked by Putin on twit. volnation has a VERY large audience. That is why I am so careful. I'm seeing signs of being invaded again. Why did ras just disappear after three days of 24 hr propaganda?
Get some help.

Congrats. You just unknowingly realized what a slippery slope is.

No, it's much the opposite.

Showing proof of vaccination hasn't led to any parade of horribles, and Russia never had a vaccine mandate and (to my knowledge) never required proof of vaccination for anything. So requiring proof of vaccination doesn't lead to what Russia is doing and you can do what Russia is doing (checking text messages without cause) while still not taking justified and appropriate measures to protect public health during a pandemic.

But hey, thanks for playing!

Putin says he won’t pursue fines or prosecute unvaccinated people in Russia.

You were suggesting that Russia invaded because they thought Ukraine was moving forces with the intention of attacking.
That's a horrible excuse.
It is an excuse. An excuse not just limited to the Russians. And I was responding your comment about allowing the Ukrainians to invade in order to get an excuse to act. That is what Western countries (mainly UK and US) do.

Are you now claiming that one country shouldn't allow another country to shed the blood of innocents? How much blood shed of innocent people would legitimize invasion?
There is no concrete answer to that. If you think the answer is zero, then you will be having wars all over the place. If you say a million, then you will have a genocide on your hands. Russia had ethnic Russians in that region that have been tormented for over 8 years. He moved in to stop it. That is his excuse, love it or hate it.

Why would they nuke TN?
'Cause they jealous.

Good lord. It's the thought process that's the danger. You wrote that long ass post and compared it to what Russia did or didn't do regarding vaccination proof. You are lost.

You guys think I'm lying, but during the presidential election I was on twitter in contact with all the presidents and political writers, and even top news broad casters. I knew i was getting attention and would be checked. I didn't care because I was having civil discourse and had never done anything wrong. Just an average American discussing politics. So I get into a discussion about Russia and Putin with someone high ranking (not going to divulge), and suddenly twit goes a little wierd, and I can tell someone is snooping around. I knew I'd be checked, no big deal. Next thing I know I can wright like 500 word tweets if I want, and I'm like... ok this is getting weird. Then I get this message, and it was obviously russian. "Why don't you tell me more about your views on russia and putin."

I told him strait back "I am not stupid and I know who you are."

Then I hit delete.
Believe me, no one thinks you are lying.
