War in Ukraine

Another thing I've learned over the past few weeks. Only Russian billionaires are oligarchs. American, European and Ukrainian billionaires are all wonderful people. They are not oligarchs. They are philanthropists. Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, George Soros, Warren Buffet, and Elon Musk are people we should admire and everyone one of them would make a great president for this country.

Is that what you learned, I would probably take the lesson that if our government invaded one of our neighbors, say Mexico for instance, and the world wanted to put pressure on us they might go after our oligarchs as well.

Ras....... Please wake up dude. This is what you sound like.

While I agree every side pushes propoganda, The Russians in this case don't even attempt to put forth a serious denial. They don't need to, because in Russia you either tow the line, get out of the way and shut up..... Or you're moved and silenced.

I'd stop carrying water for Putin here if I were you. It's an indefensible position.

Mariupol authorities accuse Russians of bombing maternity hospital
From CNN's Tim Lister in Kyiv and Olga Voitovych

The city council of the southern Ukrainian city of Mariupol has posted video of a devastated maternity hospital in the city and accused Russian forces of dropping several bombs on it from the air.
"The destruction is enormous. The building of the medical facility where the children were treated recently is completely destroyed. Information on casualties is being clarified," the council said.
"A maternity hospital in the city center, a children’s ward and department of internal medicine ... all these were destroyed during the Russian air strike on Mariupol. Just now," said Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk regional administration.

We would never do such a thing as invade another country or meddle in any foreign affairs and you should never refer to the American billionaire class as oligarchs. That is considered blasphemy over here at Volnation. What is wrong with you?

So there should be no hard rules of behavior? Should Israel have just turned the other cheek every time they were attacked instead of retaliating? If they had done that, Israel would probably have ceased to exist. It seems it's been a part of the American culture to stand up for others against a bully; but if the bully has teeth, it's different? At least most of us posting on this topic can identify the bully.

The difference between Israel vs the neighbors, and Ukraine vs Russia is that Israel's neighbors are not superpowers like Russia, China, and the US. If this were Ukraine against Romania or Poland, NATO would have been a non-issue, and the match would have been far more even. You think the US was wrong in our actions around the globe, and I won't argue against you, but why condemn US actions and not Russian? Your NATO argument as a threat to Russia is BS; Russia just doesn't want to have anything even resembling an even fight if they decide to grab a neighbor.
Every situation is different. You can't just apply cookie cutter rules of engagement for every situation. That is where you need competent people with wisdom and discernment... something that The West has been lacking, at it's own peril, for decades.

This is one situation where there was plenty of room for concessions and honest brokering, not taking a hardline like we are standing on the deck of the USS Missouri expecting an unconditional surrender.

Let's just remember what TFG said about all this.

While I cant argue about Ras and Putin, so many of you are carrying water for Ukraine. You will deny this but you flat out are passing on their propaganda unquestioned (fed to you by the same media who lied to you over and over about the pandemic, the election and so many things its become a Brandon meme).

What I WISH I saw here instead was that every one of us was carrying water for AMERICA and keeping their wits about them, whilst corrupt leaders from many sides try to get us to do their dirty work.

Yeah this virtue signaling I've seen the past few weeks is getting tiresome.

Do you believe Ukraine is a sovereign nation with its own right to self-determination? Likewise, can NATO not take on Ukraine as a member if both parties agree to it?

Sounds like your position here is yes on one hand, but on the other cowtailing to Russia comes first.

You still haven’t addressed this under the paradigm where Russia is the aggressor in the current scenario. They don’t invade, and we don’t have war. End of story.

It’s an odd position to take.

Did you believe this about Ukraine in 2014? If so then I'm sure you will agree that we had no business interfering in their affairs. As a matter of fact, after all this is over I'm sure you will agree we need to start minding our own business more.

Saudis, UAE Refuse To Take Biden's Calls To Discuss Ukraine Situation, Talk To Putin Instead | ZeroHedge

First, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro declined to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Then, India followed suit - as the Modi government attempted to balance its historic ties with Moscow and its strategic partnership with Washington.

Now, Saudi and UAE leaders are refusing to take Biden's calls as the US president tries to contain surging oil prices, according to the Wall Street Journal, which adds that the Persian Gulf monarchies have signaled "they won’t help ease surging oil prices unless Washington supports them in Yemen, elsewhere."

Guess I’m in the cool group, I’m not taking his calls either. Seriously though, this doesn’t surprise me in the least. I think very few foreign leaders take him seriously.

We aren’t innocent for sure. But this thread is about Ukraine in 2022. And last I recall we didn’t militarily trample on them like what is happening now.
