War in Ukraine

How ya feelin’ about all those F-35’s loitering on the perimeters of the military operation?

I bet they’re up to no good…
I think we should launch some "surgical" strikes against Russia and may a few "tactical" nukes to show them who's boss, don't you?

I'm not gay so seeing a guy in a speedo has no effect on me. I might even say you're gay if you don't want to see a guy in a speedo.

I'd prefer not to be scared for life and throw up at the same time. Nightmares come into play as well. I'm not gay either but I'd say a gay guy would have similar reaction. I mean it is @hog88 .

I agree. I didn't say it was not a component or not a necessity. But an economy is graded on far more than just it equities markets.

Well first off, lets state the obvious, these sanctions are going to be a set back and something to over come.

Now with that said, Russia has been dealing with sanctions since 2014. Putin has done something for Russia that US presidents should have been doing here in America, and that is moving to make Russia more economically independent. They can supply a lot of their own energy needs and a good deal of their own food. Obviously, I'm not saying that Russia is totally independent of imports, but they have greatly reduced their need for them. Also, the areas where Russia will feel the hit with regards to price increases or difficulties will be in a lot of these foreign luxury items or non-essential goods. So the BMWs and high end items fro the EU will be tough to come by and probably anything else imported from there will either be impossible to get or come with an extreme price tag.

Russia does have 2 things in their favor; They are resource rich and their people are a bit more accustomed to pain much more than Western Europe and certainly much more than us here in America. So time is on their side in a certain sense. How long can The West tolerate high energy prices and galloping inflation at the grocery store?
I have no doubt Russia is maybe more self-sufficient than some other countries (namely Western Europe) but I think you’re understating the extent of the effects of everything that has happened.

Russian currency is basically worth nothing now, which might not mean much to the elites, but to the population at large it means a great deal. Russia has been moving away from USSR isolationism since the early 2000s, growing their GDP and trade at a good clip up till now. They have enjoyed a decent period of “westernization” if you will, and even though their consumer market isn’t one of the very top in the world, it has grown exponentially in recent decades. Now, anything associated with Russia is faux pas. Nobody is going to be seen doing business with them. They don’t even have access to conduct transactions. That is mind-bogglingly hurtful. Every Russian international business isn’t just devalued, it’s basically worth nothing now. The ability to grow is non-existent. The ability to get technology or components is now non-existent. It has to be a nightmare for so many people in Russia realizing how much their world has changed in three weeks. So yeah, we’ll deal with gas prices and inflation, but that doesn’t hold a candle to what is going to be experienced by Russians.

One time I was having love on a beach next to Acapulco, when some thieves stole my sandals. (they walk up and took them), I chased them down the beach, and they dropped them. They dropped the sanals. The next day the Mexican fam tracked them down and hunted them. no lie.

Does Iran really want that smoke, or did Russia have Iran launch those missiles into Erbil as retaliation for America helping Ukraine?

The fact that you call it "having love" makes me doubt that you've ever had it.

No, I'm judging right now.

Indeed this would seem to be one of those times when prejudice is the most sensible policy.

I thought I was clear in my statement, but apparently not. I am saying now for the 3rd time that I am unsure/on the fence about the truthfulness of this story.

Now with that said, lets get into the subject of Congressional approval. At this point, with all of these executive orders from presidents (including Trump), what purpose is there for Congress if they can by side stepped with EOs?

I wasn't disagreeing at all with the honesty of the story - just simply that I don't see the path for a president on his own to make or back out of a treaty; and that should make it a non-story. I don't even think an EO can sidestep a constitutional requirement that treaties be ratified by 2/3 senate approval. But then all that depends on the whims of that other body - the judicial people who seem to think they have no bounds at all.
