I don't know why I found this so damn funny but I can't stop smiling. As is standard practice for Putin he has "his guy" in the Belarus Government. Many are speculating Russia will invade from Belarus if he goes through with it.

Russia got and was getting it's ass kicked until lend/lease started. We supplied them and let them spill their blood in a war of attrition to weaken Germany before we got into it on the continent.

I respectfully consider this revisionist history.

Germany was winning the first five months while a Russia continued to hunker down and wait for winter. Once winter hit the tide completely turned.

Stalingrad forced them to move more troops in which helped open other areas for the Allies.

The tide didn't turn the Germans just got bogged down and Hitler made some of the dumbest decisions of the war. We started shipping material and supplies to Russia in Oct/Nov 1941 and without that Germany would have finished them off by end of summer 1942.

I don’t disagree with the supplies part. Germany was heavily armed. The point is they got bogged down because Russia dug in.

And every European country relied our our arms including England. It is literally how FDR got us out of the Great Depression.

So, you want the Article 5 process to follow in the proper order by allowing Ukraine emergency NATO membership... but you seem to have no issue with the US not declaring war through Congress and following the Constitutional process.

You place more reverence towards a NATO agreement than you do the damn Constitution.

In hindsight we should have only given the Russians just enough to hold out and keep the Germans occupied for another 2-3 years but not enough to go on the offensive. Let them bleed themselves and Germans out some more and maybe the Soviet Union would have never recovered.

I’d rather have let Russia fall and we arm the insurgence like we did in France. They would have been 100% toothless after WWII and never got to Berlin. But FDR loved him some Stalin!
