Wars, genocide, reparations, religion, etc (split from recruiting forum)

my proverb is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ do whatever you want. its silly to complain on RF about such things, esp when according to your own admission you 'have money.' So, you more than anyone understand basic economics, and supply and demand operate.

People have done it since dawn of time. View attachment 658787

I believe, I believe.

Hard work begets success. Rewards come in other forms however. There are varying levels of success. Fundamentally, our Country has a warped sense of success as material driven. We should laud the musician on same level as the silver spooned socialite. Money isnt commensurate to power, and power isnt money. But is it?

There is far too great an emphasis placed on material wealth. There is far too much wealth. Why does only 1% of the World need its riches?

Does that mean that Robin Hood need to parade through the streets throwing coins? No, but, I do believe people hve the inherent right to live a decent life, without fear of going hungry, or, water dripping on their heads.

If that means wealth sharing, then so be it. Does that mean that Billionaire has one less summer home? So be it.

The problem with that is it doesn’t take into consideration human nature. There are numerous stories out there of Elon Musk sleeping on the floor of factories while getting them up and running. On the other hand… my dad helped run a christian charity that helped people in need. Sometimes they were people legitimately in need but the majority of the time… It was just poor/lazy choices. One example was a family that couldn’t heat their home. They had a fireplace and wear tearing up their flooring to heat the house. My dad went over there to repair the floor and to cut them enough wood for the winter. When he should up… they had several able bodied people inside the home… The house was surrounded by woods… plenty of wood laying around the house but the people were too lazy to go outside and collect it. My dad packed up and went home.

So, the underlined... Please define "right". I see "right" as something that's inalienable, independent of what one does or doesn't do. A "right" is something that is deserved, and not earned. As such, lazy people who can do for themselves but won't, have no "rights" to the things you claimed. To infer that society should support them is to claim that they have a "right" to what I worked hard for.

I think I recall that you are a Bible believing Christian? When God gave the law to Israel, did He infer that lazy people have a right to what others work for? Or did He say that folks who refuse to work have no right to eat?

When Jesus described His Kingdom, did He describe a socialist society where the gov't forcibly takes what people earn to give to the needy? Or did He describe volunteerism?

There is nuance to every situation.

I reject, completely, everything you are espousing here.

And so does history.

What you seek, fails.

ESPN is so woke it’s ridiculous, ran across this on bleacher report. Not one single man on this NFL live coverage.

'ESPN is so woke it's ridiculous'

'Not one single man.'

Did they hurt your feelings? Maybe they're having difficulty finding people to cover the 9,000 hours of content? Maybe, the women are credentialed and good at their jobs?

Maybe, wgaff?

I have a theory that all of life is a series of adventures running guard rail to guard rail. A few decades ago was the good ole boy system alive and kicking? Epstein and Weinstein say yup. Have we been cruising at ludicrous speed toward some sort of artificially balanced structure in the name of inclusion? Transgender women winning woman of the year after only being a woman for the year say yup.

Not political just observational. Be sure to wear your neck braces and seatbelts.

Pendulums have momentum. They always swing past the middle on their way from one side or the other. I don't begrudge the overswing in the short term, women and people of color had a raw deal for so long, it's not a huge deal to me for them to get more than they deserve in some areas for a while until we find a good natural balance of how things should be. Yes it sucks for the more qualified white male who occasionally doesn't get the job he deserved (or me who got laid off in corporate cuts instead of the underperforming minority person on a PIP), but that won't last forever.

We're already seeing that overswing corrected in some areas too. Good observation though.

Oh, we are already swinging back IMO. Capitalism always favors money more than bad ideas.

The problem with that is multifold in my opinion.

If some people are getting more than they deserve, it stands to reason that others are getting less than they deserve to compensate. You have to ask if those now getting less than they deserve, deserve to be taken from. Reparations are an example. Reparations are asking to take money from people that never owned slaves, to give to people who were never slaves. And somehow, the logic is that that's fair. (It also ignores the fact that the AA population was massively better off immediate after slavery than they are now after decades and decades of liberal welfare culture policies. See Thomas Howell's arguments on this subject for a fuller treatment.)

For a more immediate conversational context, do you have to misrepresent an entire population of people ("the world" is still made up of sexist a-holes that think women are ****able maids) to defend the idea of giving to a certain group?

I agree, but do you also bring that same energy when when its a panel of all white guys and there are complaints about lack of diversity?

And yet people will still flip over a few women on television. Go figure.
I'd agree while arguing that these people are pretty rare and it's disingenuous to label "the world" in such a way. The problem with social revolutions seeking change is that they generally need to basically lie about one population to foment enough friction between populations to affect the change they want.

I haven't seen a sports talk show with only a panel of white guys in 25 years. Which I really don't care what race or gender the individuals are as long as they know what they're talking about.

Is this really worth getting upset about? You have to be looking for something to get upset about in order to get upset about this...as if men are going to be all out of jobs and replaced by women or something. Maybe falling for all the manufactured outrage over "woke" things has you on edge. It's really nothing.
