I wish we would turn down the rhetoric and enjoy the success in 2024. We went to the playoffs w/ a 10-2 record while many predicted 8-4 or 9-3.
10-2 was my number going into the season with mandatory wins against FL and Bama. We did that. But the way our offense looked and the beat down against OSU exposed some concerns that A) CJH's offense is going the wrong way and B) we're still not recruiting at a high enough level. I think it's time to upgrade a chunk of the staff

I think it was for sure.

10-2 with a freshman QB in this conference is about the best you can hope for. I don’t think Nico was elite but he did pretty good for how inexperienced he is and he will be so much better next year now that he knows a thing or 2.

Think if you’re Heupel you have to find a way to ride this momentum (subtracting that gut-punch season ending of course) to next season.

Get Nico some guys in front of him that act like they give a damn. Get him some wideouts that give a damn and can actually catch a ball or even better, catch the ball and not trip over their own feet directly afterwards.

I think we’re still on the right track considering we just had our 4th double digit win season going back 20 years (My second ever in my time watching this team).

10-3, Beat Florida, Beat Bama, Beat Oklahoma on the road to avenge Heupel, make the CFP, and we have the SEC offensive player of the year. It may have not been pretty at times, we never stood a chance against Ohio State in the CFP, and we still had road woes. But at the end of the day, while not perfect, we had a good season and achieved more than we have most years.

2024 was about the best we could have done a lot of ugly on O was masked by Heupel. Then injuries to 3 key players in the OSU game.
The last game was a blunt ending, but we were an 8-win low end team compared to teams we played and a max 10-win team. We just do not have the talent to max out and a young QB that has a high ceiling we hope he hits before he leaves. We are still going against juggernauts and still under Pruitt penalties. I think this recruiting cycle will be the last, but the NCAA is still trying to go after UT for the Nico deal.

Was the season a success? 🤣 Dumb question. Yes, definitely.

Should we have done better? 🤣 HELLO, we did do better, better than anyone expected.

I can't believe these are serious questions... 🙄

Are you trying to say it wasn’t a successful season?
No.....I'm saying our lunatic fringe that is saying since we lost to Ohio State in the playoffs and lost to Arkansas and Georgia means UT didn't have a successful season, are the same lunatic fringe that would be happy with only 8 wins, or less.

I know this sounds crazy, because it is, but that is the psychology of our lunatic fringe. They are more comfortable reveling in mediocracy and misery. They would get to feel safe, because they can't handle success and/or it keeps them in their comfort zone of negativity with Heupel and crew ....

It's a strange thing for sure. To some on here, not winning it all was a failure, but missing the playoffs, or worse is success. When they can't handle winning and mediocracy, or below is their comfort zone, it makes them feel successful in their failures......

Why isn't there a 'turn it loose and freaking move on' selection? My vote---we've beat this season to effing death.
Yes, but is has yet to be stomped and ground into the dust until it is absolutely unrecognizable...

It's what VolNation does.....

clearly it was successful. We had good expectations coming into the season and we met them and more. We came out of the gates Stronger than expected and that made a lot of people raise their expectations early in the season. We just didn't live up to the revised expectations. I think our biggest issue is the media love we got this year. There was a LOT of media hype about us and we drank the kool aid.

Really poor choices between the two questions. Unless you go undefeated, you could have done better. However a ten win regular season record could never be considered anything but a success.

100% a success. We were picked to go 8-4, went 10-3 with a playoff berth. Didn’t end the way we wanted, but unfortunately we have some catching up to do in order to compete with one of the top 4 programs in the country. It’s a start. Sure beats being excited to get 6 wins and an Outback Bowl berth.

I had us as a 9 win team, so I think we overachieved at least a little. Going into the season, we had a first year starter at QB and a patchwork OL. Heupel adapted his style a little and played more conservatively and relied on our strengths and got to ten. It was frustrating at times to not be an offensive juggernaut that scored as much as the 22 team, but we maximized for the most part

I voted successful but posting like it wasn’t.

We were 5 points in the Arky game from being in the SEC championship game fighting for a first round or settling for home field in the playoffs. That stings a lot because of how crummy that Arkansas team was. I don’t think I can ever forgive Heupel and the offense for that game. Nico and the OL looked like they were middle school kids.

We were also 14 points the other way from being 0-2 against down UF and Bama teams. However, since we won that doesn’t feel so terrifying.
