was it coaching that cost us the game or talant.

Harbaugh could have coached the game of his life and still be taken to the cleaners. They had way more talent/depth than us.

Nise.
Ewe beet mee two thee puntch.

Doyle, are you still legally drunk? That sentence is truly an eye test.

On another note, this team will be a night and day difference 3 years from now with Dobbs and Hurd running the offense. Butch knows how to run an Oregon type offense. It will be a thing of beauty. Relax folks. Good times await.

EDIT Sorry, I didn't notice you were quoting the other drunk.

No we don't have the right qb for his off but great coaches adapt n plan around the talent they have.. what u saw yesterday was a rich rod take 2.. im running my system regardless of talent n if u don't like it tough..

This staff must have a off plan that uses our strengths which is not the big east spread.. if they continue this we r screwed n cbj will have zero support by the end of this season..

U have to adapt to your talent n this staff isn't doing that at this point.

This wasn't as much about talent and coaching as it was about comprehension of the respective systems by the players. Oregon's players have been running the same system with the same types of players for several years. Every player knows exactly what they are doing nearly every play. Our players have been in their respective system since spring practice. If we could run our offense with the familiarity and second nature that Oregon runs theirs, it would have been a much better game. Also, the defense faces a team like this maybe twice in a decade. Hard to scheme against a one of a kind finely tuned touchdown machine if you have limited familiarity.

Quit looking at recruiting as a comparison...Oregon has been recruiting for a system for 8 years....we have Changed our system 10 times in the last 7 years both defensively and offensively. You cannot do this and expect to win without stability in the coaching and staff....Dooley made the biggest impact with the staff changes and micromanagement.

We have four walk ons in our starting rotation. I say our talent level is what hurt us the most

I don't understand the continuous punting on 4th with Worley on the field, but then he wanted Peterman on the field for 4th and 8?

I know Butch wants to stick to the game plan. I know that he doesn't have his crop of players running the offense yet. But I feel like he was coaching as if he already knew the game's outcome...

And...South Alabama beat Western Kentucky yesterday...Maybe that explains our loss a little more...

If you can't see the gigantic difference in talent, especially in the skill positions, I don't know what to tell you. Neyland would have had a similar result given the personnel on both sides yesterday. Many tried telling some of you that it didn't matter how good of a coaching job or how much butch "got it", there was almost no chance we were going to be in that game yesterday.

Obviously, the wide gap in talent lost the game. Coaching made the margin worse, though. That said, unlike the previous coach, I think Jones will actually be willing/able to identify flaws in his gameplan when they're exposed on the field. Dooley always seemed to think he was above reproach, which made me dislike him even more than I did when he was hired.

If we swaped mariotte for worley would we of had a chance...i think so. you cant run a read option without the option part

Would it been much closer yes. Look at our secondary they can't get off blocks. Lb can't cover in space. That's all if them . Corners are horrid. Dude its talent and there is no question

You guys need to get off of the bad coaching train. We have a lot of guys that shouldn't be on an SEC field and you think that changing a QB or running up the middle more would help them compete with Oregon????? They could have scored a 100 on us if they wanted to. Tennessee was far from a few coaching decisions from competing in that game.

I think the first 10 minute showed a pretty good coaching plan, then they got off some plays that were not about a bad defensive scheme, so much as just getting BURNED by explosive talent. At some point the combination of lack of depth, lack of players with a winning experience, poor morale, and down right losers limp made it worse.... The last part has plagued UT for some time now. Butch Jones has done a good job I think of trying to increase motivation, and get rid of that, but these players have been through too many coaches....and too much crap. Butch Jones may reach the new guys better, but the older ones seem to accept loss and get the dreaded limp as soon as they meet real adversity..... I'm not surprised by how it turned out, but I was really hoping to see 4 quarters of solid effort even if we lost..... Sadly we did not.

truth right here...it is a combination of several things.

oregon has a long established system being run by really good athletes who were recruited for that system, and have been groomed in that system, and are under a very good coaching unit. They are experienced, physical, fast, and know what to do to win.

We are on our 4th coach in 6 years, are trying to develop our system, trying to plug holes with not very good athletes (especially in 2 and 3 deep), we have learned an entirely new offensive scheme and are on our third in three years in terms of defense, we have good coaches who are trying to unteach losing, teach how to be physical and we are NOT a fast team. so...there you go...reality.
