Lou Holtz said he was a myth. Also said we will eventually get a hit in our QB recruiting.

Remember when butch said the qbs would be graded by what they did off the field as well as on the yield? This was about Riley. The others by all accounts have strong work ethics. Riley was not cut out to be qb at ut. I would not have him back as he is damaged goods.

Can't lie, I missed on this one. I thought Ferg was going to take over the starting spot mid way through this year. Guess I should have put more stock in the fact that there was a reason he hasn't taken a snap in a game after a year and a half in the program.

Meh...cover story. They do it all the time with failed drug tests. Easier to answer questions about an injury than why a kid isn't developing. That would have become a major distraction as many considered him the next savior.:hi:

I love your coast to coast show George.

Lets just hope Dobbs is not a myth because he will likely be the starter in 2015 unless we sign an absolute stud this class that can't step in right away.

Eric Ainge stating recently that Riley struggled with learning the protections got me to thinking. How on earth was he ever going to play last season if he is currently struggling with protections?
Prior to last season, at the open scrimmage which I attended, I thought it was strange that Riley participated in the qb drills, but his scrimmage time was limited. The other qbs including Dobbs played way more. Then he suffered the mysterious leg injury before Dobbs was inserted at qb. I don't believe there was ever an injury. I think it was made up to protect him. This stuff happens all the time in sports.
I am thankful that coach jones had the good sense to recruit Josh a Dobbs because there were probably some red flags about Riley from the beginning. Perhaps it was because he played at a very small school in nc. I don't know....
But I never understood the hype as he was a 3 star prospect. It's not like he was considered a top guy coming out of high school. Good luck to Riley and I hope he finds happiness and whatever he is looking for.

Wut? Whats the saying? "You're entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts". He didn't actually have a stress fracture in his leg? He wasn't actually wearing a boot for a few weeks? And what again were they protecting him from....being a bad QB recruit? I don't follow.

Was he a myth? How could he have been a myth? He was a scholarship student-athlete at UT. He was indeed on the roster. No one that I've ever heard has ever said anything other than he's a talented kid with a good strong arm. Now we know he appears not to have had the attitude and work ethic to play QB at UT... how does any of that make him a myth?

A lot of folks ordained him as the next great qb. Sorry if you've been living under a rock:clapping:

With the exception of maybe 1-2 guys on here, nobody ordained him shiite. Most everybody who has commented on Riley has either "reported on him" via sources like VQ or simply said, "hey, the reports on this kid's talent is good, he's the only one we didn't see play last year and he couldn't be worse than the other 3". That pretty much sums up 90% of the "pro- Riley" posts on here since Spring started.

On the other hand, the irrational dislike for this kid and anyone who dared to cut and paste quotes on his performance/status/playing time has been unreal prior to this week's revelations about him leaving.

There's been no mythology about this kid IMO. Just a question as to whether or not he's better than the other 3 and if he would play QB at UT. We now have an answer to the second question and it's no .... we never will have one for the first.
