Case in point, Sanford. Jim Harbough was successful at San Diego, an FCS school before he was hired by Stanford. Very easy to bash that hire at the time. And he was certainly stepping into a conference with a lot of teams better than the one he was coaching.

The bottom line is Peterson is a great coach with proven performance. He will succeed at UW.

The two? Petersen and who? Wilcox?

Winning 1 or 2 tough non-conference games and a bowl game most years is not significant or impressive IMO.

If/when he wins the PAC-12 then I will be impressed.

I would bet he's getting a Saban type deal where he has total control of the program...and TN ain't giving that deal!

The Pac 12 just got a great coach. I don't care if he coached in FCS or MWC he's a winner and Washington got a good one. I think they gauged his interest at UT and he turned us down like Muschamp.

LOL oh well...I knew it was just a matter of time before PetersEn left...it sucks..but football will still be played.
I have heard talk of Koetter coming back and talk of Wilcox too...and a few wispers of maybe even Coach O. but I don't know.

I couldn't be happier with having Butch, but did we ever go after Petersen last year? It looks foolish to choose Washington over Tennessee to me if we did.

I am pretty sure we went after him when Lane Kiffin left. We went after several, including Petersen I believe. But no one wanted it. So we hired Dooley.

He just liked Washington

He's been offered a ton of jobs and he was born on the West Coast

I don't blame him, not much would get me to move from the South

yeah, he ran scared of everyone while scheduling at Boise.

I didn't like the Boise love and I agree that their conference schedule sucked... i've voiced that opinion repeatedly... but you have no reason to say that.
