available? I believe it was from a writer who blogs for ESPN. If that is true are we truly bottom fishing again? I thought money wasn't going to be an issue. BTW Jimmy Sexton is the worst thing to happen to UT, I believe he is a Finebaum.:banghead2:

I don't think there is any need to panic.

Gundy was 2011 coach of the year and Strong was asked to interview at both Auburn and Arkansas. That isn't close to bottom feeding. Now if we get neither and settle for Smart we are definitely bottom feeding.

Not if you ask John Adams...He was on the sports animal in Oklahoma City and said that TN is a bad job for coaches

I hear Louisiana Tech has a good coach who might be pursuaded to take the job.

It's getting embarrassing again. Hart is a joke. We will end up with some Mac coach or bringing Phil back.

Yes, perhaps. But that doesn't mean that Arkansas and Auburn hired better coaches. Maybe they jumped the gun a bit. Time will tell.

No need to panic???? How about getting someone as an AD that has negotiating skills. Looks like we may be bottom feeding to me.

Yes. Nothing to panic about. If they told us no, there would have been an announcement from those coaches. Chill out.

People see Tennessee as a gravy job. Not true. Tennessee is a pressure packed situation and probably one of the most stressful conferences in America. Limited in state talent to recruit and a fan base that is well............ Also, superior teams and superior coaches in a conference that demands only the best. You are expected to win every game and go to a top notch bowl every year. Win a national championship at least every now and then. Something for any coach to thnk about. Not many would want the pressure of the SEC.

I think a Lot of people would agree with John Adams. I have said this before. When you treat Fulmer in the manner he was treated, it's not a good place to coach. I, like the next guy, thought it was time for him to go. But their is a classy way to do it. Phil and his family were dragged to the curb, beat, kicked and spit on. When you are a Tennessee native, student, and long time coach and get treated that way, Who in their right ****ing mind would want this job?

We will make a good hire. I suspect Hart had a longer timeline in mind for the hiring than either Ark or Au, as he mentioned his New York trip of yesterday in the Dooley firing presser. It may take another week.

Like everyone else, I am ready for it to be over, but what matters is that we get a great coach, not that we get one quickly.

And we are the best program with an opening...which is why we are taking our time and being more selective.

Well for it being the best coaching job... Sure seems like we're after about our 4 or 5th choice again... Strong was about the last guy as far as benchmarks go.. Apparently big money, SEC job, huge stadium, 100k crazed fans, just isn't as enticing as some might think.... I wouldn't be upset with Strong, but the search kind of ends with a thud if he's hired.. Seems like we could have done a little better here..

Not so sure about this. He fired Dooley and will make a hire. That, in and of itself, will be an upgrade. At least one would think.

Not sure he deserves credit for firing Dooley. That was taken out of his hands with the way Dooley finished up his season. Most have said that if Dooley got to a bowl game, Hart wanted to keep him.

The thud you hear is the program hitting rock bottom.

4th or 5th fan choice or administration choice? I know we gauged some interest from a couple.

It did that last year when they lost to Kentucky... Strong is a upgrade from Dooley.. I have a hard time thinking he's going to do big things here.. I will have to see how he recruits first.. Tennessee needed a guy who can bring in top 10 classes regularly.. Not sure Charlie can do that...

I'd personally take Gundy, Petrino, Patterson or a few others before i would have offered Strong.. I bet they probably did.. So we're at about the 4th or 5th choice... He's solid, but it's a dud as far as splash... Tennessee needed splash...
