Poorly stated on my part….They did blitz on 3rd downs but we also missed some assignments allowing NT a free shot. I think probably due to inexperience at center. Our run game looked out of sync to me with our RB’s doing a lot on their own.Define “poorly”. Tennessee is currently #4 in the country for TFL allowed per game and has Jaylen Wright sitting at #3 in the country in YPC. The Vols are #4 in the country for Rushing Yards Per Game.
There is room for improvement, but I’m not sure the stats back up the description of “poorly”.
AP did something that was pretty effective. They had an automatic blitz call for 3rd and short when Tennessee seemingly always hands the ball off up the middle. They consistently brought more defenders than blockers in that scenario. Interestingly, Tennessee rarely did the “clap cadence” then stop and look to the sideline, which they did all last season. It probably would have helped avoid being in an ineffective play call.
There's only a couple of things needed to happen for that game to have a drastically different boxscore. A couple of those drops would've been TDs. A PI no-call keeps 4pts off. The fumble would've been big.Honestly if the milton would have been slightly more accurate and the receivers would have caught the catchable balls it would have easily been more than 45 yesterday.
Yes but Mertz can be sacked 6 times and hit a few deep balls over a poor secondary for TDs and if Milton and Co struggle they'd still win and the sacks not really matter.Florida - 95th in the country for sacks allowed
Tennessee - 1st in the country for sacks
This, IMHO, is the key to the game. For Tennessee, ideally they would start fast and force UF to pass more often, giving the DL a chance to pin their ears back.
Should be an interesting game. I don’t think anyone knows quite what either of these teams are yet.
No Kidding. McNeese was there for a check. Defense literally did not try to tackle running backs on 7/8 plays. It was almost too obvious. I wonder if NCAA is investigating any gambling connections.I just watched the replay after seeing this thread. My god is McNeese slow! They make slow people look not slow. Especially that number 98 on the line. He is hysterical
MedicineBvs is real, I have had symptoms from time to time for most of this century!
Joe Milton is the doctor I am seeing now!
C’mon Joe you got the medicine!
1st trip to Gainsville following on last years Bama in Ktown, lets hope this years game pick is just as good and keep the momentum going till I get to tuscaloser stadium and watch Nick proclaim bvs is completely gone and he is no longer the doc in charge!
Anyone with gameday suggestions at Florida, please share!
Go Vols!
You have no clue what offense Tennessee runs lolAnybody who thinks we're going to walk into the swamp and curb stop the Gators is a total Homer. This game will be a dogfight at best. If there's a chance this game is a blowout, I'm giving the blowout to the Gators. I have absolutely not seen anything about our offense makes me believe that we are going to run 50 points up on anybody else we play this year. Our defense looks improved. And I'm very pleasantly surprised with that. But that Airaid offense we had last year is over with. We are a run dominant team now. And you just don't put up those kind of points running the ball. And our Run game has only been shown against two weaker opponents. We don't even know what our Run game really looks like. Our quarterback has lost the starting position white and his career at two separate schools I'm betting that before the season is over with, he loses it again and Nico is our starting quarterback for the balance of the season. That's not to say that he can't get the win over Florida. I'm just saying I don't see Milton carrying the torch for the type of offense that JH wants to run.
McNeese State that was 4-7 last year and the year before that? That's your measuring stick and who has you worried? We better have a plan for that receiver Persall. He is good. The entire gator team looks much better than the Utah game. McNeese State looks lost though. Our game in the swamp is going to be a battle. Tossup in my opinion.
That all depends on the mindset of the team. Would they have played the same against a top 15 team?If we had of played Utah this past wkend we would be in the same ordeal as Florida.... Florida has some talent and didn't play well... I expect their A game against us and it will take a really good game from us... We need to worry about us
