Watching the gators replay...

This week always has my stomach in knots. I've had to live here in Florida , for the past 6 years due to my job, and previously when my parents moved us here when I was a kid at 14 till I was 29. Ive seen so many times where we are the better team and should have dominated the game , to have so many things go wrong. But I was in the swamp in 2001 and I carry that memory with me always. I don't care if it's by 1 or 100 JUST WIN!!!! #GoVols

McNeese State that was 4-7 last year and the year before that? That's your measuring stick and who has you worried?

Pearsall has a track record, including huge games against very good teams. He dominated @FSU last year, was the only player who showed up vs Utah this year with 8 catches, he went over a hundred yards with a TD @tennessee last year. He’s a good player, Florida actually has a few of those, believe it or not.

You have no clue what offense Tennessee runs lol
Either you're Helen Keller or you don't watch much Tennessee football. I'll catch you up.
We played a couple of scrub teams. Both were home games because even Nashville is a home game. We looked mediocre at best against the worst team in the ACC. Then we came out and looked like hot garbage against a high school football team out of Clarksville. The passing game was so bad that the coach stopped calling passes further than 10 yrds down the field. I running backs were ripping off 10yrds at a time..... so that was good.
Anywho.....we still have a good coach. The players had a "players only" meeting so I'm sure everything will be just fine.

Newsflash, we've always been a run heavy team. The difference is that Hooker was very accurate when the passes were open. For some reason Milton can't do that.

Thanks for reinforcing my point. Last year was an outlier, not the "new Vols". All these homers think that we are going to pick up where we left off. Last year we had lightning in a bottle. We're still good. But it isn't going to look anything like last year. And i think Milton is our limiting factor. He hasn't improved. I don't know that Nico is going to step in and fix it right now. He's our guy in the future, but he needs to put on weight and get more SEC experience. My point being, we are not going to the playoffs and the homers are in for a rough season. We likely finish 2nd in the East, but it's going to be an ugly 2nd

I remember years where we would thump some team like ETSU 49-3 in week 2 only to go on and finish 5-7 for the year.

FL playing good against McNeese St means nothing.
But somehow our game against AP harkens disaster

This thread is freaking hilarious to me because I just see parts of conversations because I have people who are commenting frequently on ignore

McNeese State lost to something called Tarleton State the week before they played us.

You really can’t take much from our glorified scrimmage last night.

UT will be favored to win, and they should be.
If we don't do a better job in pass protection and figure out how to TURN YOUR HEAD AROUND AND LOOK FOR THE BALL in pass defense we might get slapped

I’ll never take a win over the gators for granted. Mertz makes mistakes under pressure. That was Utahs game plan and it should be ours. Until he can prove he can throw it on us, then get after him relentlessly.

Etienne and Johnson are terrific but the fact that they did nothing against Utah suggests either horrible offensive game plan by BN, or an offensive line we know is not up to snuff.

I say its both.
I just rewatched the UF vs UU game, and IMHO UF's O line is not great. UU had 5 sacks, and towards the end of the game UU D line basically took over the game.

Another thing, Utah had good success rushing the football against UF. I don't have the stat sheet, but it seems like UU had a few runs longer than 10 yards and consistently hit 5 yard runs. UF looked like they struggle making tackles TBH.

I heard a Florida podcaster say he saw some good things from the Utah game, despite the loss. I disagree. After rewatching that game, it looks like UF is not a good football team. In fact, they looked bad.

I don't think Utah is better than Tennessee.

I predict the Vols will rush for over 200 yards Saturday and the Vols defense sets up a mailbox in Florida's backfield. Mertz will be wearing a dirty jersey after this one, if he makes it through the whole game.

That said, Florida will probably have some successes too. They hit 1 for 40 yards to Pearsall against Utah. I won't be surprised if Florida hits a couple or three against the Vols. I am still a little suspect on UT's secondary.

I am watching the McNeese st game now, but I don't give it much credence.

That part.

UT’s DL is not a good matchup for our OL.
Utah got 5 sacks on Florida. They allowed the pressure that caused the deflection to interception. They allowed at least one batted pass. Florida's O line seemed suspect against Utah. I haven't watched the McNeese St game yet. Not sure if I need to TBH.

42-17 vols. Say what u will about Joe Milton but he's better then Utah's 3rd and 4th string QB. Our run game, and d line is better then Utah. If this was anyone else but Florida on paper everyone would be saying blow out as well. GO VOLS

No, after watching TN struggle against Austin Peay I think it’s reasonable for anyone to be suspect of how any future games will play out. I think anyone, at this point atleast) that argues that UT will dominate/or just beat ANY TEAM moving forward might need to cut back on the drugs.

Let’s face it, there was no excuse for TN to struggle last week. It might turn out to be a fluke, but if you had to bet everything on a fluke, or a precursor, you would be the village idiot to bet on fluke. I hope it was, that’s for sure, but logic won’t allow me to get on board with it.

Billy Napier is not Steve Spurrier. The Vols should blow Florida out of the water. The old problem Tennessee and their fans (me included) have is the six inches between their ears.
