We’re Ranked 5th: Why so much worry?

This is what happens when you ONLY pay attention to your team.
All of a sudden:
- our oline isn’t deep and is a weakness
- Heupel went into a conservative shell
- Haven’t faced a “real “ passing attack yet….
I’m sorry…what does the defense practice against EVERYDAY???
- WRs underperforming

NONSENSE ☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
Every single bit of it.

How do you think UGA felt about barely beating Kentucky?? What about Alabama and their closer that expected game against South Florida
We just beat the Oklahoma Sooner on their HOME FIELD, and didn’t play as well as we could.

▪️You don’t understand that running 3.8 yards per carry in the teeth of a run stopping defense builds character and puts us in 3rd and short!
▪️You don’t understand that on paper Oklahoma is more talented- yet was never a threat to win on their home field…
▪️ You don’t see that we have 10 freshmen on the olineman (some RS) and still wonder why we struggled AT TIMES with one of the better defenses in college football. Guess what? They will get older as this season progresses and into next season!
▪️ You don’t see that we have won games through big pass plays. Slow grinding games. Defense causing turnovers. Nico converting crucial 3rd downs to keep our offense on the field and clock running. We’re not a one trick pony. How do you truly stop a team that can win ANYWAY they WANT to???

We’ve beaten 2 Top 25 Teams so far this year- and there has not been one second that we weren’t in control of the games.
The worry is that we are missing pieces to with a natty. Compared to where we have been, we are fine and we are probably a top 5/top 10 team but us die hards want to win a natty and winning it all will require either perfection or a lot of luck. I'd rather strive for perfection.

I would point to tOSU right now given their schedule. If TX can get past UGA, they would be another.

That offense that put up 65 points in the first half last week was not what we saw Saturday night.

The OL concerns are real, not BVS.

Venables just showed Bama and UGA how to defend our offense. This rs freshman QB needs to grow up and quick.
With starters back full strength at tackle Nico will have more time for the long ball, and our running backs will have bigger holes.

Maybe we were spoiled by 2022? I think most Tennessee fans expected the offense to look more like it did with Hooker and Hyatt. Heupel is really letting Nico take baby steps. I understand the turnovers are a big concern, and so is pass protection.

OP, This team doesn't look like a team that can go 12-0... just sayin.

We have deficiencies and this is the place to discuss those.
The statistics and eye test say it’s possible. I really would like to know genuinely if another team in the country has 2 top 25 wins..whether the teams are ranked at this
point or not.

I agree with LittleVol, I believe that Tennessee stands as good a chance as any to go undefeated, but that's a mighty tall task. Almost requires a soft schedule. Going to be a lot of 1 or 2 loss teams in the 12 team field.

It's a forum. Your thoughts belong just as much as the next guys. It's OK to think things are great, it's OK to talk about things to improveI
I Like it!! AND Ut is woefully thin on the OLine, as Opposed to the Dline. The oline has 5 Starters, and when one goes down, there IS a dropoff, which will be a factor in the upcoming Big Games. I was thinking in an emergency, If the Oline could borrow a guy from the Dline who had played both ways before. One of those 300LB Knock your head off types..

The worry shows how this program has improved. Three years ago we worried about being competitive. Now we are worrying about winning the natty. We know this is a good team, but how good? Can it beat UGA and Bama? These are better worries than what we had before.

As long as we continue to improve each week we’ll be fine. As our coach said “the opponent is nameless and faceless.”
