We basically play pick-up basketball

fgm, fga and fg% being ranked towards the bottom of the conference isn't good.

True.

But because our offensive rebounding and ability to get to the line, we score a good amount. Our offense definitely isn't a powerhouse, and can better. That's the scary thing. If we can shoot the outside shot better, who knows what could happen.

Also, don't forget what the B4A did to our three point shooting. Before the tourney, we were shooting 44% from outside.

If UT held a couple of those shooting numbers (FG%) it would rise conference wise. 129 isn't great, but not bad either.

We seem to be at the bottom of the conference in most every offensive category...thanks for sharing this.

Except the one you were wrong on.

We don't shoot the ball extremely well, but if UT is going to put up 120 points over 100 possessions, Tennessee will be a dangerous team.

If we can keep up the offensive rebounding, those 3 categories don't matter as much. Problem is I just don't see how we keep up the rebounding as teams know now that it is our strength, so the O will need improvement.

Just my personal opinion, but teams have tried to stop Jarnell and Jeronne on the boards for 2+ years now and can't. Say what we want about Cuonzo's, but there is no doubt his team rebounds as well as anybody during his tenure here. I think it can keep up.

We need to improve the outside shooting a little bit. I think the offense will get better once Hubbs starts hitting his shots.

But I'm more concerned about the defense at this point. If they don't fix that, they won't do damage in the tournament.

part of the problem on D, especially in the UTEP game, is allowing a team to run their offense without getting in passing lanes by just chasing them around, then allowing them to clear out up top in a 1-4 type set. JRich or whomever guards 35 feet out and there is no need. Make someone hit it over you from deep.

Agree 100%. I've always complained about our lack of denying passes and how we don't play the passing lanes.

imo, it's a little bit of CM being stuck in the just play straight up man in your face mode and hold your man down. Problem is when he played, there may be two, 3 max, guys on the court that could take someone off the dribble. Now, some teams have 1-5 that can handle the ball well enough to attack the rim and there are more athletes on the floor than ever. Scheming is even more important now.
