We Have To Clean Up Backfield or Else....

Our defense is not very good. We have let UTM score 14 and they are driven BG for another TD. UT Martin may very well score 21 points on our defense. That’s pathetic.
Literally doesn't matter

They scored once on our ones who were mostly playing with second stringers anyway

Then they scored on our third plus stringers.

I mean UTM averages 45 a game. They're better at offense than Ball State and Akron so it's not a big deal. When our defense was trying we absolutely killed them

I’m Not being sarcastic; Genuine question.
haven’t we been without 4 starting db’s and Mitchell was out as well?
If so, I think if we can hang with bama, the national champions with a heisman trophy winning qb, along with the “greatest linebacker ever” in will Anderson (he is pretty incredible no knock on him), and THE BEST depth chart in college football; something tells me we will be ok with the up coming games.
Heupel has changed ALL of football. We need to enjoy the moment. It’s RARE an innovative, philosophy changing coach, comes around. Well, he is OUR COACH!!!!! It use to be defense wins games. Heupels innovation, has now made it so that offense wins games. You just have to have a defense that doesn’t give up a lot of points……….
I think we r lookin pretty solid. Embrace the moment. We put up 65 and benched our players by halftime. We had 52 points AT HALF! Definitely not a let down.

Stetson Bennett has thrown 7 Total Passing TDs in 7 games. That's 1 TD a game. And it's not like Georgia has played a bunch of juggernauts. They've played teams like Kent St, Samford, Mizzou, Vandy, and USC. Yet, despite the competition, Bennett had a stretch of 3 straight games without a Passing TD. I'm not overly concerned!

True- he (Bennett) is a weasel; however, it's not the offense I'm concerned about... it's their defense And home-field advantage. if anyone thinks we are just going to wiggle into Georgia and put up 40 points on them, then you're not being realistic.

Bottom line- It will depend on how the refs call the game. If they call a tight game we may escape; however, if they let the players be physical then we may be in trouble (for real).

its not often you have a Nick saban, Steve spurrier, art briles, urban Meyer, or a bill belicheck as your coach. All those coaches built dynasty’s from being innovative, creative, and discipline. Well Josh Heupel is our coach and he is on their level because he has changed the game of football. Think about his formations. When we spread guys out on the sideline, you can run a player full speed 53 yards across field and have them do a go route. Guess what? That defender is already gassed, so not only does the safety have to take over but now that leaves 1 on 1’s on the opposite side. You can’t stack the box, and you can’t play man. If you play zone you will get gutted from rushing and slant routes. The game now is becoming, bend don’t break; SCORE POINTS. Like basketball almost. We need to enjoy this ride for however long it lasts.

i Give kiffin due respect with his offensive mind. Yet, watching the game, the field always looks crowded compared to Our games. This is Josh’s heupels version of fun and gun. This is fun and gun on steroids. It’s backyard football, pitch and catch. I’d call this offense Feed and be Fed.

We're in trouble in Athens, GA. I don't like how UT Martin was able to drive the ball downfield on their 2nd drive. I know it's 58-7 but it's concerning...

We'll beat Kentucky- for instance, get the favorable calls and alloted time to integrate players back from injury; however, Nov 5th becomes real. I think we score on UGA but they will score us. Can someone suggest how we stop their running game and TEs? We will score on them as well but not sure we have enough defense to stop their offense. the guy from Cali and #0 will be a challenge

I still think we make the playoffs. This has been an unreal season!!!!

Our defensive backs are still learning the game; they will get better but don't expect a Top 50 defense. DL and LB are playing fairly well. The whole world knows to throw on our defense, + we put the other teams in a position to throw more because of our ability to score at will and that is going to generate stats on our backs...it is what it is until we start recruiting more elite CBs. I think this is pretty much known.

Burrell is out for the year with injury. He had surgery.
I questioned why we kept trotting Burrell out there given how teams were targeting him. Now that I've seen what we have to work with in the secondary, I can honestly say I wish we had him back healthy. Hope we pound the hell outta the portal this year. We're gonna have a LOT of holes to fill.

Pretty much. Not worried about the front and lbers, they will bring it. Our DBs are really concerning me as far as depth.
Depth? Hell, I'm concerned with every DB spot. I don't see anyone that I really have confidence in.

Everyone knows the back end of the defense is a big weakness. Not sure why you're acting like this is new...

Irrelevant. We should not give up 21+ points to UT Martin. Have you seen how many points OSU has given up to Iowa? A whopping 10.

Iowa is legitimately the worst offense in the country. OSU giving up 10 points to them and worse.

We also have a top ten run defense. Maybe we’re that good against the run, maybe teams just throw it because they can. Probably a bit of both. But that seems to favor us. It’s like saying come air it out with us, we’re better at scoring than you are. And so far that’s been true every single time this year.

Yeah I guess teams like Akron, Ball State, Central Michigan and Middle Tennessee State have recruited better in the secondary than we have huh?

Give coach H time…as was said before…we need time. If you want to burn effigies of someone, be pissed at Pruitt…the supposed defensive genius is the one that left the cupboard bare.

The is has nothing to do with Heupel. I am talking about Martinez. He is not developing his players. Blame Pruitt? No offense but if not for Pruitt we wouldn’t have Hooker, Tillman, Hyatt, Keyton and many others.

Why is it that Halze, Elarabee, Pope, Golesh, Garner and BJM develop the guys they inherited?
