We Have To Clean Up Backfield or Else....

No it’s not. Iowa is a D1 P5 team. Not an FCS program that could only manage 7 points against Boise State.
I'm surprised that someone who lived through Jeremy Pruitt is still somehow unaware that an inept offense is an inept offense. Iowa's offense is downright dysfunctional. Saying the defense isn't very good is fine in my opinion. Using holding Iowa to 10 points is not. It shows a lack of critical thinking. That is just grabbing a number you think supports your argument and blurting it out as evidence. If your conclusion is our defense isn't as good as Ohio State's, then congratulations on winning the weirdest way to get to a fairly obvious conclusion award.

I agree that Georgia's offense is nowhere near Alabama, but i think you are underestimating home-field advantage. If we had a dominating defense vs having e a high-octane offense, then my nerves would not be so bad; however, as someone who has followed football for years, I know defense travels, the offense does not, especially in a hostile crowd. UGA has just enough to outscore us if we don't run up the score on their defense.

my only concern is who will stop their TEs and no one here has answered... that issue won't just disappear- maybe at home but not away.

I'm just really nervous- maybe I'll feel better after the KY game next week.
Be careful assuming UGA’s offense is nowhere near Bama’s. I don’t think that’s true this year as Bama doesn’t have a ton of playmakers like they normally do. Both offense are top 10 in scoring.

We were missing a lot of defenders and I think we started out a little slow but picked it up. Kind of hard to go from playing Alabama to UT Martin the next Saturday.

We will have a lot of players back for Kentucky and Georgia on both sides of the ball that we have been missing.

Georgia is going to score on us but can they keep up is the question?

*This is coming from the residential troll apparently because I pointed out Pittsburgh wasn't a good win*

Iowa scored a whopping 7 points on South Dakota State and 4 came from their defense. Iowa would struggle to beat UT-Martin.

Even Pruitt could still put up points on the SEC East bottom feeders like Vandy or Missouri. I am wondering about Iowa lol.

So you're saying those defensive guys that are out will come in and shut it down? I hope you're right

Don’t put words in his mouth. He is just saying there is no reasonable way to assess the situation with those guys being held out. Too many declarative sentences by those forecasting doom.

I agree that they have a good offense, maybe or maybe not better as whole actually than Alabama, but Alabama has a much better quarterback. Without Bryce Young Alabama wouldn’t have stayed in the game with us at all.

Bennett seems to be a good quarterback who protects the ball very well but doesn’t generate a lot of amazing plays on his own. He can get some yards through the air and move the ball but they don’t score a a lot that way.

Their running game seems legit with a number of very dangerous running backs. We have done very well against the run though against everyone we have played, even Alabama, which isn’t exactly known for being bad at running the ball (understatement). Maybe they will have more success running the ball than other teams, but I like how we have looked so far.

I think our ability against the run is super critical and something that should be praised more. Everyone criticizes the pass defense and the DL gets some praise but not enough imho. If you can’t run against us you either have to stop us from scoring, which hasn’t happened yet (Georgia did this last year but I am not sure they can this year), or you have to keep up with us by way of the pass game.

Can Georgia do either of those things? I think their defense limiting our scoring is more likely than keeping up with us in a shootout. Sure Georgia will put up a better than average performance through the air because of the pass defense issues, but I doubt they look as good as Bryce Young did.

I generally agree. Bennett is good enough to beat us through the air but if we can pressure him like MO did then maybe we can slow them down enough to get the win. Their TEs will be too much for us but if Bennett doesn’t have time then it’s hard to hit targets, no matter how big they are. I do give UGA a slight edge being at home but it’ll be a great game. We have more issues that they do but we also have more upside. If we play like we did against Bama we will win.

Yeah, I concur. Most projections have us at 20-25% chance of winning but I think we have a better shot than that in reality. I do think they are a favorite but maybe more like 55% or 60%.

Where do I start?
We have 8 starters out prior to the game.
UT has the #10 ranked run defense in the country
UT has top 5 Redzone defense in country
#1 offense in country.
We will have at least 7 starters back next week.
Haven’t stopped pass all year but still undefeated
Beat Bama and only punted 1 time.
UTM still has starters in, while UT playing walk on’s for most of 2nd half.
UGA isn’t better than Bama. Bama had the #2 scoring defense in the country till they played us. The boys are hungover from the Bama as well. We was a 39 point favorite and currently winning by 44. We don’t have to be great in defense l, all we have to do is get 2-3 stops a game and that’s it.
We will see. Doubt we stop them enough, but hope is a good thing.

For the fans who are content with being "back" and being a relevant force in college football it's fine to just relax and "enjoy the ride" etc etc...and that's fine...but for those who want to win it all and won't be happy unless we do it's a tougher road to hoe and there are legit concerns. KY is not a joke...Carolina is all of a sudden tough...and of course there's Georgia. These are legit concerns not miserable fans. I'd say relax and enjoy the ride...but I understand being greedy and want to win it all...and to do that there are very real concerns on how we're gonna get that done. Not all guys w concerns are being "negavols." Some just want it all. Imo. There is no way in hel* I saw us w a real shot at a natty...I just wanted to beat Florida.

Those are not mutually exclusive. We all want to win them all, but we can enjoy the ride, too. I don’t understand people who constantly criticize even in the good times. You have to enjoy life.

I agree generally, except you don’t actually have to enjoy life. You can not celebrate the milestones of a journey and be miserable all of the time. I don’t think it’s a great way to live, but to each their own. The two are definitely not mutually exclusive though, as you point out. Of course we all want to win them all.

What make you think UGA is some unstoppable team that walks on water? They barley beat Kent State and Should have lost to Missouri. They have 7 passing TD’s on the year. Bama offense I believe is better than there’s by a mile.

Completely agree. 20-25% is too low. Man I’m already getting pumped. Let’s get some Wildcat tail and then whip those puppies!

Alabama has the same QB who was voted the best in the Nation last year and the best running back in the SEC. Georgia has neither of those. Georgia's defense may be a little better than Alabama's, but it is not as good as the one they had last year. I think we have a better chance of beating Georgia than Alabama has, even playing them this year in Athens.

UGA has better WRs, a better O line and far better TEs. Their RBs are on par with Bama’s even if Gibbs is the single best player. QB is Bama’s one advantage over UGA. UGA is a top 10 offense so they can’t be taken lightly.
