We have play makers on DefenSe tho...and thats how u beat oregon. Ur not gonna out score them, you have to limit them. And when/if we limit them on on offense then we dont need 5 play makers on the field...just one. Lets play solid D, slow the tempo down, eat some clock, win the TO battle and walk away with a 27-24 win.....Boom
Cromptons physical abilities were never in question it was the mental side of the game for him. Crompton had a cannon for an arm. When everything clicked for him under Kiffin he was a very good sec quarterback. Worley is the exact opposite. The only reason he is playing is because he is better prepared mentally(reading defenses check at the line ect.). He simply doesn't have the arm strength , he poses no threat to run, and he has the slowest delivery I have ever seen.
...and this is why we will be in trouble Saturday. The only two potential playmakers we have, Young and Howard, are out. I'm not even sure what's wrong with Howard--who only touched the ball twice against WKU. We don't have a single guy with big-play potential on the field, though, yes, we could score a long TD if there is a breakdown of pass coverage or a missed tackle or two by the Oregon defensive backfield. And we are the most absurdly unlucky team with injuries. Maggitt hasn't played in forever. Young plays one game against little Austin Peay and breaks his wrist. On and on it goes. I feel the ill wind blowing our way again, I'm afraid.
I have a question for all you cry babies that always point out the bad and that we're gonna get stomped: Why do you even watch the games if it's so painful to you? The "I'm a realist" argument isn't a good enough reason.
Yes, when everything clicked....
I'm not saying he is gonna be anywhere near as good, but Worley has much better arm strength than Danny Wuerffel had... that guy did ok for himself in college....
Look, Worley doesn't have close to elite arm talent, but it is better than most on here give him credit for. If by midseason they don't have their timing down and he is still throwing behind receivers then maybe I see things differently. Until then, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt because there are too many factors that go along with QB play to oversimplify it.
