We have ZERO playmakers....

I'm not at all ready to write Worley off. I remember Crompton. There are so many factors that play into it, and timing is a huge one. We were shuffling 4 QBs in fall camp and we are still shuffling WRs like crazy. Hard to get on the same page like that. You guys know, one of the things that makes Peyton so good is that he works tirelessly with his WRs to get their timing down. Has Worley underthrown some balls? Yes he has. Have the receivers been off on their routes? I'm sure they have.

It's still early in the season so no reason to panic just yet. Worley may not get any better as the year goes on. On the other hand, some receivers may emerge and he may be lights out by the end of the season.

Seems like I say this on VN a lot, but let the season play out, then we will know how good Worley is or isn't.

:good!:
Cromptons physical abilities were never in question it was the mental side of the game for him. Crompton had a cannon for an arm. When everything clicked for him under Kiffin he was a very good sec quarterback. Worley is the exact opposite. The only reason he is playing is because he is better prepared mentally(reading defenses check at the line ect.). He simply doesn't have the arm strength , he poses no threat to run, and he has the slowest delivery I have ever seen.

Even with all the playmakers back from last year we would get smoked. It's like some people don't realize how bad our overall talent level is right now.

Like I was saying on the other post it seems like every big game we have our best players are injured. Its been that way the last 4 or 5 seasons. We must lead the ncaa in injures every year. And half the time there hurt in pratice and not in a game. Sometimes it can be very frustrating.

Are you implying that just because North made a great PLAY and was on SportsCenter Top 10 PLAYS of the Day that he's a .....gasp..... PLAYmaker???

That can't be. OP just said we have zero playmakers.

Why do we attempt to argue points with superior sports minds, who are only trying to spare us from needlessly cheering for our doomed team?....GRATITUDE PEOPLE!....laterrednecks

I wasn't trying to stop Vol fans from cheering--I will cheer. I was just stating the obvious. We might have a playmaker or two in a few games, if North develops, but right now we've got nobody. The college game, for most teams nowadays, is all about spreading the field and using speedy, elusive backs/QBs to beat defenders in space. Young and Howard are potentially that type--but Young is (already) hurt and Howard hasn't gotten the ball much and now he may be hurt. And, really, if Jones wants to run the read option that we will need to get a QB who can run and pass.

...and this is why we will be in trouble Saturday. The only two potential playmakers we have, Young and Howard, are out. I'm not even sure what's wrong with Howard--who only touched the ball twice against WKU. We don't have a single guy with big-play potential on the field, though, yes, we could score a long TD if there is a breakdown of pass coverage or a missed tackle or two by the Oregon defensive backfield. And we are the most absurdly unlucky team with injuries. Maggitt hasn't played in forever. Young plays one game against little Austin Peay and breaks his wrist. On and on it goes. I feel the ill wind blowing our way again, I'm afraid.

you smell like tuna

wahwahwah

change yer tampon bro, yer leaking!

We have to get the ball to our tight ends more, mainly Downs. Im pretty sure we have two good play makers, if not three. Neal and Lane are pretty damn good. North is good also.

Some would tell you to step back from the edge.. I on the other hand...well....GO BIG ORANGE

If some if you guys ever listened to the coaches interviews you would notice that they repeatedly point out that north keeps running the incorrect depth on his routes and that is the disconnect in getting him the ball. I guess it's just easier to blame Worley, though.

Shut up, Worley, and throw better.

Throw in Josh Smith, Pig Howard and maybe Vincent Dallas for me while you're at it. Not saying those 3 are a threat to take it to the house at any moment like CP, but I think they can make a play for the team on offense. I'll also take Brian Randolph on D.

Sounds as though you may wanna stick your head in the sand till bout late November then....gonna be a long season for you

Bah! Who have you been watching???? First of all, he underthrew North for a gimme touchdown in the first game, then in the same game he threw 3 ft behind ??? right in front of the endzone. The guy would have scored if the ball had been on the money. In the 2nd game, he underthrew Johnson for a sure td and North again! He was under 'some' pressure each time BUT THEY WERE WIIIIIIIDE OPEN. All he had to do was zing it. Finally, he underthrew North again down the sidelines for yet ANOTHER missed td. North had to slow and reach back for the ball. He had his guy beat down the sideline and if the ball was on target he sprints into the endzone. Worley SUCKS.

You SUCK!

You and the others wanting to pound on Worley have absolutely no perspective. Worley's been the starter for all of 2 games. There's a completely new coaching staff installing a totally different offense. We have a completely new group of WR he's throwing to. Croome has dropped a 50 yard TD pass that hit him right in the hands in both games. Your expectations of excellence is absurdly unrealistic at this point in the offense's and Worley's development.

At this point Worley's 22 of 32 (that's 69%) with 4 TD's to 1 int. If Croome simply catches what hits him in his hands its 6 TD's. Zero time outs have been burnt due to Worley not getting the play started in time? Zero fumbles on snaps and hand offs. I sure wish Bray could have produced these type numbers against Vandy and KY the last couple years. Also, Worley's doesn't behave like a douche. In light of the TN QB musical chairs of the last 6 or 8 years, you ought to be optimistic instead of so chicken little.

Like it or not, for this team to be successful the offense needs to be a running ball control type in order to keep the D off the field. CBJ clearly gets it and is shaping the team in that manner. You clearly don't get it and want them chuncking the ball all over the field.

So is it the general agreement that the OP made up the Pig thing to scare folks? I can't find anything confirming that anywhere.

Obviously you've not been watching the SEC (which keeps winning the championship each year BTW).

There are several ways to be successful. Everyone doesn't have to follow the same model.
