We Just Might Be The Most Underrated Team of the Year

Depends on the offense. The passing game was statistically worse than Florida last year and UF was awful.

The O-line will have to gel and protect the QB. If Worley (or whoever ends up potentially starting) is not protected than it will not matter about UT's WR's.

Could UT go 4-8? Sure.
Could UT go 8-4? Sure.

Just depends how the O-line comes together and how they match up against other D-lines and front 7's they will face.

That's not what Johnny Foseball said!

Please clarify what you mean because Johnny was behind a line that had 2 1st round OL and it would have been 3 if he didn't go back to school this year. So 3 1st round picks isn't a bad OL. lol Their DL and defense in general was terrible that's why they didn't do anything last year.

We threw for 6 yards per game less than Florida. Which shows that it's hard to argue just one side. If your OL plays to the level of our OL last year and our WR play better I think our numbers will be much better.

One hand washes the other and vice versa.

This thread happens every year. You're not original, my friend.

You are historically correct. Optimism goes to a fever pitch before every season from baseball to football to tiddly winks. Sunshine pumping is a major sport before each season. My only hope is the pumpers stumble into being correct this year. And not do this :thud: when injuries start to mount.

It will happen. Six wins are there, even with the new lines.
3 OOC wins
KY
Vandy
Mizzou at home

That is six. Room for more, or if Mizzou proves too much, an upset somewhere, there are six wins on this schedule. No question about it unless the team just falls on its face. Six is there, will happen.

I completely agree. The wins are there, and this season is CBJ part 2. Jones made a leap at cincy in year two and I think he is poised to do the same here. Our talent level is undoubtedly improved at all positions but the OL and maybe DL. However, CBJ has a track record of getting the most out of his players (Eric Fisher). We may be young but youth can win (see last two heisman trophy winners). I am also a diehard VFL and I know I may be setting myself up for disappointment, but my glass is half full.

8-5 (bowl win) GO VOLS

Aubarn played in the national championship game because of a few lucky plays too. You play the game for those reasons.

I get that but the point is it can go both ways. People act like we should have national respect because we upset south Carolina. Tennessee football hasn't been relevant nationally since 2003.

I think we can go 6-6,7-5 this season.I am more worried about our play calling .you must have great coordinators in the sec,not good but great to win 9+ games

OK Lottery Pick lets hear your words of wisdom. What does the season hold for our Vols?

Allow me to speak for him for a moment. It will be sporadic doses of ohhs and ahhs mixed in with missed tackles on bad angles, blown coverages, dropped easy touchdowns, and agonizing penalties because that's what inexperienced players do. There will be fun times too. If we get 7 wins we should be foaming at the mouth with excitement this time next year.

Yup ... Should we see what many of us think we will, better play on both sides of the ball than last year, we are way under rated. We were just a two or three downs away from a 7 win season last year, you know ... the "loss of ball control" (I'll never say Pig "fumbled"), and the D giving up the 1st down, or not stopping Robinette's jump pass.

Our Vol's are a better team than folks give them credit for.

I honestly think we will surprise some people. I doubt we win 10 games but I could see us getting an upset or two and end up at 7-5. EVERY year there are breakout freshman in this conference and all over college football.. Maybe it's our turn to have some breakout players?

I keep reading all of this crap about how bad we are going to be. 5-7, 4-8, 3-9 at best. We were two bad plays from being 7-5 last year and I think this team is much better than last year.

Every talking head you see thinks we are going to really suck and Mizzou and Ole Miss are going to be 9-3 or 10-2 territory.

I can't wait to prove them all wrong.

Talking heads talk. They go with the flavor of the week.
We're just not the flavor right now. Way too many unknowns for this team for any of the "experts" to jump on the bandwagon. A couple wins would probably change their perspective. Time will tell.
GO VOLS!
