We need a quarterback!!!!!

The question is........If Kiffin were the "great offensive mind" and "top-shelf recruiter" that many claim him to be........why can't we even get a "mediocre" QB to sign? Is the LK image we've "built" not consistent with the perception of all the recruits out there?

The answer is, we had Bryce Petty and Tajh Boyd ready to sign.

You might want to go to the recruiting forum which has a great wealth about the future QB's that Kiffin is targeting. This class isn't make or break either, catch a clue and get a grip.

It is highly likely that we will have a poor season next year (we're probably looking at 6-6, at best). How many top-rated QB's do you think will be lining up to play for LK?

The truth of the matter is (and no matter how unfair it is), THIS CLASS IS MAKE OR BREAK, and it is probably the most important class LK will ever recruit at UT. No matter what you say, he doesn't have time to recruit a great QB next yr and then spend another 2 years developing him. He will be gone by then.

LK needs to "catch a clue", as you so eloquently put it.

There's always tons of top shelf quarterbacks lying around 2 months before signing day. I'm astonished Kiffin hasn't picked up at least three at this point. He must have no idea what he's doing.

..right on cue:

Love Vols = Love Kiffin.

I don't think so.

Regardless of the "logic" you might be spewing, if LK doesn't get a QB in the next couple of years, you won't be loving him either. We need a QB now, and for him to say "it's not important" or to insinuate that it isn't a top priority is B.S.

Sounds to me like he is already lowering expectations for the incoming recruiting class.

Hey Phil, Vicky called and she has you a dozen fresh doughnuts (jelly filled). You have to be one of the biggest Fulmer lovin Kiffin Bashin posters on here. You Posivol and Admiral Scott could add your football IQ's together and still post nonsense. You are not capable of letting Fulmer go and realize what you thought you knew about football from Fulmer, is not what the winning programs in the country do.

Am I saying Kiffin will take us to higher ground? no. Do I feel he is capable of taking us to higher ground? yes

Your boy Phil is gone!! get over it or find a new team. Oh wait you can't because your hero Phil can't buy a job in coaching. Don't you find it humbling that your hero was not contacted by any college with all the vacancies this year. I actually feel sorry for you that your so brainwashed by a phony. Cutcliffe had more to do with Fulmers record then Fulmer ever did.

It would have been nice if the team had maybe showed up to play against Florida. Then perhaps we'd still have a decent QB committed.

Crompton was the #2 QB of his class.
Stevens was the #15 QB of his class.
Coleman was the #10 QB of his class.

Let the man work. Let him coach. We will see if he can develop a QB or not. It's like handing him his own rope to see if he'll put it around his neck or not. His job is to coach.

But I thought (at least according to your previous post on the subject) that the reason we hired LK (despite the fact he had no CF HC experience) was because he was this "great offensive mind" capable of immediately bringing in the "top-shelf recruits".

But maybe there is another Kptvol on VN, and I've just got you confused.

If Kiffin can get one of these three guys to develop a little accuracy, make a couple of clutch throws, and avoid boneheaded decisions, we'll be fine. Assuming the defense doesn't drop off a whole lot with the guys who leave, we can hopefully ride a much improved running game to some wins.

Show me where I said he'd immediately do anything. There's a mountain of manure on the hill that's been piling up for a decade. No one has a shovel big enough to take care of it in a few months.

I do see a pretty big gap between the pro-Kifffin crowd and anti-Kiffin crowd. Most of the Kiffin haters will take any news (someone signing, someone not signing) and twist it into bad news that we be devastating for the team, and many of the pro-Kiffin bunch will say "let's wait and see what he does before rushing to judgement." I have to side with the group that is waiting for on the field evidence before running the guy out of town. I say we can easily win 7-9 games next year with the group we have right now. And going 6-6 didn't exactly hurt Bama's recruiting or results in Saban's second year.

That's is funny!!!!!! :clapping:

PF is old news, I just wanted us to hire a championship caliber coach....not someone who has to use training wheels. Maybe after a couple of yrs daddy Monte can take those wheels off.

CLK has more football knowledge in his pinky then you have in your whole body. I do not know what championship caliber coach you thought we would hire, care to enlighten us with that knowledge?

Just tell me what to base that faith on (something real, not "feelings") and I may convert.

No one cares enough about you to waste time on "converting" you. Just don't spew garbage in your unending smear campaign. There are some legitimate concerns with the Kiffin hire. They've been listed on VN approximately 85,000 times. Now you and posivol are just pulling crap out of thin air and applying poorly thought out spin to make it look negative. It's annoying.

Would you feel better if he told you he was "working like heck" on finding you a qb with some pretty stars by his name?

Dude, where the hell do you think Fulmer was at when he was hired as the head coach? Did he have any previous experience ?

I appreciate the honesty. I would rather have the head coach tell the fan base the truth rather than tell us he has to look at more film and things are going great in practice.

I agree that the rating system for recruits is not a perfect science (by any stretch of the imagination), but I would think taking a chance on a 5 star may be better than "accepting" that you may not get a QB at all.

5150,

What's up dude, long time no see.

I did not see a FR. QB coming and playing this year, with Phil or Lane. Next year is a must for QB, not this year.

5150, SOJ, and Phil should get a room.

Lets go ahead and chalk Kiffin up to a failure now...don't let him coach a game!

He's only bringing in the best defensive coordinator at any level in the country, and waiting to assemble the rest of his NFL coaching staff, getting our fat guys skinny, getting the egos out the door, and adding to a class that he has had a month or so to work with. I'm pretty sure he's getting it taken care of...
