We Now Have A Divided Fan Base...Thanks UT.

I have the same feeling I had after we hired Cuonzo, who we all agree is a good hire now. Let's give the guy a chance. He seems to be well respected and liked by other coaches and players. His first big test will be NSD. Go do your thing CCS!!!

So what divided between people who blame hart for gruden not wanting to come here and people that live in the real world

The UT fan base is only divided because there are so many stupid people who actually believed Jon Gruden or Jesus Christ himself was going to be the next head coach. This is a fantastic hire.

Everyone should know Jesus Christ coaches for Notre Dame

He's on his game this year. He helped resurrect that program

You can thank fans who have refused to take off their orange tinted glasses and those who drunk the Gruden-Aid while forgetting any rational thinking. UT has nothing to with it. We, the fan-base, are doing it all by ourselves.

The fan base will only be divided until everyone adjusts to whatever the new reality will be and gets their adrenaline levels back into halfway normal range. It's like Christmas morning when you're a kid and get a dud present or two (day-of-the-week underwear at age 8 was mine*), and you sulk and mope for a while, and then you get over it and go play with your new stuff.

There'll still be the usual can't-be-happy-with-anyone people though, who will post and post and post in order to get arguments going (aka trolls.)

*Note: I don't think that guys ever had to experience day-of-the-week underwear. Not sure what your equivalent would be. :hi:

The amount of crying on this board is insane. Wipe your tears, get the sand out of your vag, and let whoeverr they hire prove himself.

What does crying like a 3 year old girl do for you?

The only reason we are divided is because half our fans are fickle, gullible idiots with an entitlement complex.

OP is spot on, Hart will be gone in 3 years. And we will be looking for a new HC yet again:hmm:

It's not fair to the new coach, no matter who he is, to not give him a fair shake simply because he is not Gruden. Gruden wants to be in NFL. Nothing against UT, Hart, or us the fans. If it is indeed Strong, we should be happy with the hire. He is well known, well respected coach who has been at or near the top of every coaching search the past couple weeks. If we hire strong, it looks like we've hired him over a number of programs who also wanted him. We can debate whether he is the best choice, but it is ludicrous to claim that Strong is a lower tier coaching candidate or that this in anyway the same as hiring an unheard of untested coach Dooley!

Some will get on board if recruiting goes from 27th to top 10-15 suddenly. This split has been frustration. If and when we get it turned around we will all be unified at SEC Championship in Atlanta in a couple years.

No hire was going to unite the fanbase?

Really?

Let me assure you, anybody who could walk into the University of Tennessee in December or January and still get us a top 5 recruiting class would have united the fanbase.

Saban, Stoops, Gruden, Meyer, Kelly all five could have. They, by name and reputation alone would have given every person confident that they would at least bring talent back to Knoxville, and have a bazillion times better shot at winning a championship than Dooley did.

However, it seems that we attempted to reach out to none of them, at least that's what the majority of the board believes. We didn't swing for the fences. We didn't try for the home run. We didn't believe in our university to think we could get who we want, or at least offer the moon and make someone say no to us.

Charlie Strong is not going to unite the fan base at this point unless Charlie Strong signs a contract, and picks up a top recruiting class, proving that high level recruits want to play for him. Because they sure aren't lining up to play for him at Louisville. I know he has recruited better than anyone else has at Louisville. But, this is Tennessee. He will have to step it up. There's reports that some recruits would be willing to sign with us if he comes, and I hope so. But I guarantee you those and more would come for those other coaches.

Any hire that said we will not settle for mediocrity would have united the fanbase. A proven winner and recruiter on a consistent basis. Not someone who is coming off a good year, but has not recruited on an elite level, or has produced consistent results.

Thats all we need at this point. Instead of going out and doing as promised with a home run hire we grab whatever we can. I see big trouble on the horizon.

When did Gruden, Gundy, Strong, Davis, Golden, Fedora, or Mora fit into the "grab whatever we can" definition?

Those are all names that have been associated with this search from or near the beginning in one form or another. I don't associate that with a panic hire. I view that as an athletic director working a prepared list patiently and seeking out the best man willing to take the job.

You want the definition of grabbing whatever we can? I suggest you take a look at the last hire we made for this position. That was a panic hire made by an often-panicked bean-counter ill-suited to handle anything associated with personnel issues.

I think he has and will recruit on an elite level. I believe he did so at Florida. If we are sitting here in about 14 months, and he hasn't recruited a top 10 class, then bring this post up and I will admit that I was wrong. I expect recruiting to be top-notch. That is the main reason that I expect this is a lot better than many others we could do.

For some twisted reason, I wish we had to use our real names, occupations, age, and amount of teeth we have before we could post

Would give more insight into some of the posters
