But here's the thing, we haven't lost to a bad team this year, and that's my whole thing.

Last year, you're dang right, we lost some horrible games. This year we have not, we've lost to very good teams, beat some good teams, and taken care of the teams we're supposed to take care of.

My issue is the irrational fans, and those with no patience. When we win people are nowhere to be found, we beat Wichita and I never saw a post from this Vol 30 character. Now we come out slow and this dude appears and is just being negative. There are some posters who have questions about Martin and present their concerns in a valid manner and I have no problem with that, it's a message board.

Those that want to start threads after a half I basketball talking about how crappy we are just gets old. We are 7-3, have ZERO bad losses, and have a win over a ranked Wichita State team. At this point last year we were 4-6 with 3 HORRIBLE losses (Oakland, AP, COC).

Here's a good example, people were freaking out about how bad the O was in the first half. Threads were started about how bad we suck, people were saying we'd lose, negativity was everywhere....guess what??? We score 44 points in the 2nd half and win by 14 points. My point, maybe just wait people, wait to freak out. This offense is so horrible, but puts 44 up in the 2nd half, so what if they did that in the 1sr half? We score 88 points tonight? Last time I checked that's not a horrible offense.

Does this offense have issues, sure, but as I've said before, if we put up 65 points a night we are gonna have a damn good record because of our D. If people have an issue with 60 point offensive games, then sorry, but that's Martin ball. If it produces wins (which right now it is) then i have no issue with it.

I've really been impressed with McRae the last 2 games.
He's kept his promise to start taking it to the glass.
He needs to give some lessons on zone penetration to some of his buddies.

He's unstoppable going to the rim. And he usually finishes well once he gets there.

It seems we are gonna see a lot of 4 guard lineup. McRae, Richardson, golden and Mcbee all are getting 30 minutes it appears. It helps josh can guard any position, and having 4 guards helps us play faster an puts more slashers on the floor.

I don't know, I think part of this is that the other teams have been having 6'4 and 6'5 posts. Once we play teams like Memphis, etc., I think we'll be more traditional and see more Edwards/Chievous at the 4.

And when he doesn't finish, he's usually fouled, where he's shooting around 90% from the line.

Really, really, really like what he's bringing to the table. He's not settling for the 3 ball, is defending, and is really turning into a great rebounding guard.

Lets face it. The fact is, the majority of fans, myself included, don't like this brand of basketball. Its not as entertaining to win 50-45 as it is to win 80-75. It's like watching Ga Tech, Air Force, or Tom Osborne-coached Nebraska teams in football.

I much prefer an offense-oriented gameplan. That's not CCM's style, but his style does have us at 7-3 sans our best player. Hard to argue with the results. Maymon is the difference vs Georgetown and Virginia. With him, we are likely 9-1.

You don't have to like the means, but enjoy the results. It sure beats Buzz-ball. People here have short memories to be complaining about how we win in basketball.

Very true, Martin will probably adjust the rotation to the teams we play. Yemi will get more minutes against teams with bigger lineup.

Great post.

And personally idc, but that's just me, I'll take any style as long as the results are there. I'd much rather be where we are than averaging 80ppg and being 3-7.

Well that was basically the gist of my post. People may not like the style of play, but winning ugly beats losing pretty.

McRae has got to keep going to the basket...it's key. The games I watched he just shot from outside and it was not effective...golden needs to take the outside open shots created when Stokes gets double teamed or McRae gets stopped on the drive and kicks it out..this in addition to the obvious outside shots by Skylar..these guys learn to play together and pass at the right time they will be tough

One thing I want to add that I don't think has been mentioned about tonight. This was probably Trae's worst game of the season, and for most of the season this team on offense goes as Trae goes. Trae was 1-9 from the field, he couldn't buy a basket, but the team still found a way to score...thought that was a positive sign, but also a reason for such a lack of offense in the first half.

I'm not hating on Martin or the team, I'm just saying we have stunk with the ugly play, it's tough to watch. Been watching games for years including the Ernie and Bernie show. I think we will get better but as stated earlier this is not an all freshman team.

I wasn't able to catch the end of the game, but I heard #32 for Western Carolina got thrown out. Did he get two flagrant #1's or a flagrant #2?

this team is ugly and i've watched them play in person. we'll be lucky to finish .500. I dont expect dilusional tennessee fans to admit that after seeing the dooley love fest the past couple years.

I guess a flagrant 2. We were up 14, jordy went in for an open dunk on a breakaway with like 30 seconds left and dude came across the court and shoved jordy while he was in the air.
