We were always gonna drop one....glad we got it out of the way early

You might want to look at some context before spouting that garbage. Take the cupcakes out and where are we? Where are we if you only consider our past two games? I have very limited interaction with you……but it appears everything everyone says is true.

You can say that about every team. What is Ohio State? Their entire schedule is cup cakes. How about Texas? Their premiere win is now against a 2-loss Michigan team. And so on.

We're #5 in scoring offense. And #4 in scoring defense. In a world where there isn't a single flawless team we're as good as anyone on both sides of the ball.

In our past two games we've averaged 339ypg and 22pts. Most worryingly we've managed only 176y passing per game.

In their last 2 games Alabama has given up 37 ppg and 468.5 yards per game to their opponents. And they were ranked the #1 team in the country yesterday.

And this changes what I posted how? You best stand pat on what you've already tossed into the ring. You know as well as the rest of us how poorly such projections have gone previously.

If you're gonna freak out about our struggles why not freak out about our opponents? You got posters chalking up the Alabama game as a loss when they are just as flawed as us.

My point is no team thus far in the season looks unbeatable. Even Texas the current #1 team could be flawed given that their best win is 2-loss Michigan that looks like a 8-4 at best this season.

I'm not worried about our team cause I don't see anyone who looks any better than us. This season will feature a lot of parity and I think we're as good as anyone to win it all.

I'm not freaking out about anything dolt. I answered a post that asked a specific question about our offensive production over the last two games. Unless you can challenge the accuracy of the cited numbers sod off.

I wish it was that simple but Tennessee is having trouble scoring. It’s been exposed

Not really. Against Oklahoma we scored 19 in the first half before going conservative. Against Arkansas we barely had the ball in the first half. They dominated time of possession. In the second half we got some rhythm but just didn't execute as well as we should have late in the 4th.

There's nothing wrong with this team fundamentally. We just need to execute better. I think we'll do that starting this week.

You used the word "worryingly" in your post. With that said, why should our passing offense "worry" you when we got Bama coming to town in two weeks. Their defense is giving up nearly 40ppg over the last 2 games. Since only numbers from the past 2 weeks matter then Alabama just might be sort of defense our offense needs to get right? Or do stats only "worry" you when it's us and not the opponent?

There is literally not one person in this forum with the awareness of a turnip that looks at the passing stats vs SEC competition without some trepidation. If it doesn't get better we WILL struggle winning games. Trying to play the "But waddabout yada yada?" game is pure turnip talk. Does that mean we can't improve moving forward? Of course it doesn't, but unhappening current vettable reality is (to be really, really charitable) just silly.

My point is only our struggles seem to matter to you. You do realize other teams have problems too. And we play those teams next. Once again, if our paltry passing numbers "worry" you then you should be looking forward to us getting right against the weak defense that is Alabama in 2 weeks. Because if SEC stats are any indication then they're just the sort of medicine our struggling passing game needs.

Or do bad stats only matter when it's us?

Didn't Michigan just win the title last year undefeated?

Yeah and they got pushed on the road by a 7-5 Maryland team. Championship teams don't always lose the game but there's always one game against a subpar opponent where they struggle. Georgia had a similar game against Missouri in 2022. Not a loss but a close call.

Championship teams find ways to win close games. Not lose them.

I wouldn't say I am glad we lost, but if losing this game ultimately makes us a better team in the long term, I can live with it. Unfortunately, I think this loss was in part becuase we got figured out and exposed.

Heupel has been facing similar defensive alignments against OU and even NC State at times, and our offense has sputtered for long periods of time. I'm not seeing enough adjustments. Nor do I feel the staff is getting the most out of Nico. They aren't utilizing his legs enough, not protecting him well enough, and not drawing up plays to help him get in better rythm.

We have to get better. But don't assume it will just happen. One game at a time.

True. But in the new 12 team playoff era you can lose that close game and still survive to win the national title. If this was the BCS era this loss would've eliminated us. But we're no longer in that era. College football is now more and more like the NFL. So you no longer need to be flawless. You just need to be the team that is playing it's best football in December and January.

Yep, pure turnip. "Everything is as it should be 'cause look, Bama lost too."

This from earlier is the simple truth of it about our passing and no attempts to unhappen it are of any significance whatsoever.

"If it doesn't get better we WILL struggle winning games."

Actually my point is everybody struggles. We just saw Kentucky beat Ole Miss and compete with Georgia after getting blasted by a South Carolina team that nearly lost to Old Dominion in Week 1. Ole Miss just turned around and whopped South Carolina. Missouri beat Vanderbilt that then beat Alabama while Missouri got blasted by A&M. And so on.

I brought up Bama because they are just the best example right now that every team can be beat given their history of dominance. I think it's time to realize we've reached the point where college football is now more like the NFL than ever before. With the transfer portal and NIL there's more parity than ever before. Thus it probably doesn't make sense to make any huge declarations after every game. Each week is it's own season. Just like the NFL.

The amount of blathering obfuscation here is actually kind of impressive. It does jack to change the fact the only team to have fewer passing yard against AR this season is AR-Pine Bluff. That needs to get better and there's no wall of words about what other teams are/aren't doing that addresses that fact.

Arkansas gave up 2+ passing TDs in every game (including the last 2 games since that's all you're looking at) except Pine Bluff. Ours couldn't even get 1. That's a worry. And yes, why should Tennessee fans worry about the shortcomings of other teams?

And Vanderbilt scored more points against Bama than they did Georgia State. Time for Bama to shut down their program? Right?

College football is now like the NFL. Each game is a one week season. Teams play up to their competition. Teams play down. The key is who can overcome adversity and be standing at the end. The idea you can project future outcomes from past events has always proven to be folly in sports with parity. Pro sports have always had that parity. Now it's come to college thanks to NIL and the transfer portal.
