We Will Beat Florida And Vandy This Year!

No, lol.

I'm saying it seems like even when UT wins against them it loses. We beat Zook 2 of 3 then they went and got meyer and we havent won since.

Im good with predicting UT to beat UF, just don;t start those ridiculous posts about tearing down goal posts and storming the field when it happens, like we did two years ago, I'm still embarrassed by that.

Has nothing to do with the UF hire and EVERYTHING to do with the last UT hires.

Florida was easily beatable last year. We lost because Peterman was playing hurt. They're done this year.

They were easily beatable last year...with what proved to be a very bad backup QB....yet they kicked the crap out of us...again. Don't think that was Peterman who gave up 31 pts

Peterman played the first half which we lost 17 to 7. Worley played the second half which we lost 14 to 10.

Why did we lose again?

No, but it was Peterman who couldn't score 32!

And I believe Peterman had 3 turnovers.

Regardless.....I hope we all get to Neyland for the Fl game and get even LOUDER than the UGA/USCe games last year.

Fumbles and Int's take a toll on the D both physically and mentally. The situation will not repeats itself.

It just wasn't meant to happen last year in Gainesville. It's meant to happen this year so that we can storm the field and carry the goal posts down Cumberland!

He had 3 turnovers which led to 17 points...

In the first half only. It was a 2 possession/10 point game to start the second half. They their backup QB in, we had our season starting QB in.... and they out scored us in the second half, just like they out scored us in the first half.

You'll never win this, KB. Worley comes out hot and kills UF's confidence, the game is ours.

I hope he does. He came out hot the 2nd half last year but it wasn't enough. Our defense couldn't stop what appeared to be an NAIA QB by the end of the year.

I want them to beat Florida as much as any Vol fan. Just have very little confidence we will based on the last 30 years or so.

I will believe we beat FL when I see it happen and whenever the time limit for official reviews has expired.

KB,

The thing that got me after the UF game last season was how many posters were saying how good Murphy was and that UT wasn't prepared for that type of QB. What a crock!

Murphy sucked....except against UT and UT had just just played against the top spread QB the week prior in Mariotta.

The turnovers continue to happen and at the most crucial points in the game. Year after year. I'd have to disagree with you there.

Unfortunately we've been on the wrong end of a streak for the last 9 years and like every other member here, I'm ready to see this one come to an end. As someone mentioned earlier, it's going to take a very special team playing an exceptional game while making a minimum amount of mistakes to get a victory against Florida this year. Even if Florida finishes the season with a sub .500 record, they've understood what's at stake. The winner of this game is "usually" in the drivers seat for winning the Eastern division crown.

What I'm trying to say is that when the two teams play, Florida continues to find a way to sometimes do just enough to get the victory OR the VOLS gift wrap it at a certain time during the game and literally hand it to Florida. Either way, it's been difficult to watch year after year.

Oddly enough, the last time Tennessee played Florida @ Neyland Stadium during the month of October was 1990. Does anyone remember that outcome?

Peterman set the tone and I think we all know how big of a part mentality plays in sports. Aside from Peterman what else did we lack last year? Speed, and receivers.

BTW I didn't realize until watching those highlights that a Florida player technically tackled one of it's own again.

Turnovers are a problem in every game for every team however in that game they were particularly bad.

UT has gift wrapped lots of games unfortunately. This is definitely something that we need to work on and I think that's what CBJ is doing.

That '90 game was a wallop!
I'm not expecting a wallop this year, I'd take a win by a few points even.

Look no further than last year's game. In the 3rd quarter, UT had cut the lead to 17-10 and UF had the ball 3rd and 10 near mid-field. It was one of those "make or break" moments and I told the group I was with that there is no way UF doesn't pick up this 1st down. Why? It's just what UT does and what UF does against UT.

Sure enough, the play went for about 30 yards. UF went on to score a TD to go up 24-10. Game, Set, Match.

UT has got to get over that hurdle.

Peterman set the tone but the game was still very much at hand at halftime. He didn't play one snap of the second half, yet we were outscored in the second half as well. As awful as he played in the first half you simply can't put the entire loss on him. There were no pick sixes and no fumbles return for touchdown by Fla. They were greater than 50% on third-down conversions and all of their touchdowns came on drives. And don't forget we were leading seven to nothing, we scored the first touchdown of the game. From that point on they won the game 31 to 7. It was hardly all on Peterman.

The only way I can see either of those teams beating UT, and I mean the ONLY way...is if they score more points. That's it! Other than that, it's in the bag.

Bold prediction! I'd call this a homeristic post by one who only sees through orange-colored glasses!! This is the kind of thinking that can lead to unrealistic expectations and end up getting a HC fired! :birgits_giggle:

This could be the 1st time I've ever been called a homer. :)

if a win is only by a few points, i wouldn't take it if i were tennessee.

wins have come so easily that if tennessee can't win by more than a few points, it really isn't a win.

especially against florida. i mean, my god, tennessee has three score leads in that game practically every year.

That was me too. I was employing a little hyperbole with that post, but I digress.

We'll have neither the horses nor the experience this year to beat a team that has our number dating back to the 1970s...they've won like 20 of 26 since then including the last 9 in a row. They were awful last year primarily due to an unprecedented number of injuries. They'll be healthier, they're more experienced and more talented.

While we're fully replacing both lines of scrimmage, still uncertain at QB and having to play 15-18 true freshmen in the 2 deep is no time to be predicting a win vs the one team who kicks our ass no matter the circumstances, no matter what shape each program is currently in. It's gonna take a special UT team to break this unbelievable, logic-defying losing streak vs Florida..... I just don't think this team will be ready to do it yet. Next year or 2016? Yes. Just not this year.

I've tried to forget our 8-year losing streak to you guys but the memory lingers. Even though the win that breaks the streak is sweet, you still figure you have several to go to curb the bad taste. You'll hate the Gators for awhile.....maybe forever.
