We Will Beat Florida And Vandy This Year!

if a win is only by a few points, i wouldn't take it if i were tennessee.

wins have come so easily that if tennessee can't win by more than a few points, it really isn't a win.

especially against florida. i mean, my god, tennessee has three score leads in that game practically every year.

Even if it's by forfeit, I'll take it.

I've tried to forget our 8-year losing streak to you guys but the memory lingers. Even though the win that breaks the streak is sweet, you still figure you have several to go to curb the bad taste. You'll hate the Gators for awhile.....maybe forever.

No doubt about. It'll take more than one to get the bad taste out. But considering we can't even get close to winning one (hell, how many halfs have we won the last 25 years?), one, JUST ONE, will suffice for now.

1995 was brutal against Florida.

Then there was 2000, 2002, 2005 and beyond.

:hmm:

Lol good thing we can get a laugh now. It sure as Hades was embarrassing then.

If u were at the game you wouldn't have left the stadium embarrassed, but proud of how hard those Vols played that day in such a hostile place. Walking out proud, because of all the LSU fans coming up to you saying how good of a game it was and impressed. Give it a little time.

If u were embarrassed that's on u, and all the fans that let themselves be. As for me I saw a team that went into a hostile place, and walked out with lots of respect from their opponent and their fans.

And for anyone that keeps holding on to this issue...check out how the sidelines on that field is lower than the middle of the field. If u r able to say u could w/o a doubt not have what happened happen in such a hectic moment you should get off ur a** from behind ur screen, and go coach an SEC team.

Oh and if u ever go there and u find low row tickets for dirt cheap...there's a reason. U can't see the other sideline below the knees from the other sideline.

2000 was definitely the toughest for me to swallow. We whipped them at the line of scrimmage all day long but had to kick too many field goals from inside the red zone and we had AJ Suggs at QB and his pick six killed us. For the most part the more talented team year to year has won this game but 2000 was a notable exception to that.

General Neyland is spinning in his grave that people might be giddy at this thought.

Peterman set the tone but the game was still very much at hand at halftime. He didn't play one snap of the second half, yet we were outscored in the second half as well. As awful as he played in the first half you simply can't put the entire loss on him. There were no pick sixes and no fumbles return for touchdown by Fla. They were greater than 50% on third-down conversions and all of their touchdowns came on drives. And don't forget we were leading seven to nothing, we scored the first touchdown of the game. From that point on they won the game 31 to 7. It was hardly all on Peterman.

I'm not trying to hammer in the idea that Peterman was the SOLE reason we lost that game, it is a team sport after all, but it was a pretty decent contributing factor. Like I said we also lacked receivers and speed overall.

We better beat Vandy....like theres seriously no excuse in losing to them again...I would hate to lose to Florida again but I wouldn't be surprised if we did. I'm cautiously optimistic we will though.

Please change thread title. Vol nation should never have a thread started we will be anybody and vandy this year. Vandy should be a given even if it hasn't been recently

Listened to the zone here in Nashville yesterday and they said we will have the worst defensive/ offensive lines in the SEC. Ranked dead last. Said we have potentially good players coming in, but unproven. Said Vandy's (choke ..puke) defense was gonna be really good. Wanted to smash my radio

Don't worry, brotha, they are whistling their way through the graveyard.

Hard to stomach the truth I know, but the fact is they have beat us two years in a row.
Blame it on Dooley!

I know this is going to be more of the same old repeated and abused lines but I honestly feel like UT has gotten better since UT/UF played and UF has gotten much worse.

They are losing a good number of starters and are re-re-re-restarting their offense.

They also don't get us early in the year which I think favors us. We get them between @UGA and Chatt. They get us between @Bama and then LSU.

Can we beat them? Yes, I think we can.

Will we beat them? The last #)(*&@ing decade says "no". I can't shake the constant memories of having highly talented teams that crushed themselves against the Florida Gators. Who knows, though.

I do think this game is the must-win of 2014 though.

Probably because since they've won the last 2 and 3 of the last 9, which is both unbelievable and inexcusable, the Vandy game has actually become a toss up.

Yep.

To be fair it's only a toss up when we historically suc.

Those days should be behind us.
