We will see where we are heading....

Respectfully disagree here. If Milton continues overthrows and generally does not play well and we get beat then it changes the expectation for next year along with the level of excitement and anticipation. Then we have the Spring to see if either Tayven Jackson or Nico can be a true option for the Fall. Puts a lot of pressure on untested QBs and Heupel.
No disagreement friend. That’s the whole point: to see what we’ve got AND what we haven’t got

THEN if Heup decides we need a more proven starting QB to run his system we can evaluate and pick up one in the portal while TJ and Nico develop

We’re no longer “stuck” in an either / or situation bc the portal has changed the game

yeah, but it won't be their best qb, top two wideouts and their offensive coordinator though.
Their two best DLs means as much to them as our best two WRs mean to us.

But regardless, this should be a good preview for 2023. Mainly, can Milton move the ball against a good defense? And how do we look without Tillman AND Hyatt?

Darnell Wright, Cedric Tillman. Jalen Hyatt, and of course we will be missing Hendon Hooker.

Hyatt is fast and will be missed if he doesn’t play in bowl game. But I think our 2nd best receiver is Keyton that guy has hands that are unbelievable. Catch he made vs Florida and the one he made vs Alabama even though he was out of bounds was just jaw dropping . Can’t wait to see him tear it up in the bowl game.

I think the that this bowl game will be the tale of the tape for next season. Milton is who he is. His habits, like overthrowing, are set. I do not think he's going to make any corrections in the offseason. Either the receivers and him get on the same page in this bowl game or next season is a serious regression. I hope Milton isn't CJH's JG. I hope he doesn't blindly commit to him being the QB despite his performance. If Milton doesn't put on a real performance in this bowl game, CJH had best be planning on starting someone else next year. I don't want to second guess him but he picked Milton over Hooker in the beginning. He's and excellent ball coach but he missed big on that evaluation. I don't know how many other people may have influenced that decision but the wrong call was made.

Clemson will have opt outs as well.................

Clemson media guy on Basilio's show said no opt-outs for Clemson. It's a reflection of the incredible culture Dabo has built.

Regardless of opt-outs, I don't think this a favorable match-up for Vols. I expect this will be a one-sided contest.

Tillman is the only sit-out I have read so far. Have I missed others? I think Hooker, even if not injured, would have been a sit-out for this game to.

What dark sorcery is this? A healthy Hooker sitting out the Orange Bowl? Not a chance. This is not Hendon Hooker’s way. Not how he’s built. He’s probably trying to convince Heupel to let him and Joe play alternating series right now, drawing up a hopping bootleg play for him with Joe blocking.

Lol. SC showed us nothing. That was a fluke.
You can keep your head in sand with denial, but it was not a fluke☺. Actually SC should’ve been +8 on Clemson but there was a fluke INT in end zone. Did they get lightning in bottle two weeks in a row, probably, but our players and coaching performance in that game revealed exactly where, if anyone wasn’t sure, our defensive coaching vulnerabilities are! And because of the body of record and that game, i want WM gone! I’ve seen enough of his sloppy secondary in two stints at UT.

I tend to disagree. I think Hooker has the internal drive and Faith driven constitution to do his best, no matter the situation. Just don't see him sitting out for individual desires/future/etc. See him as a dedicated person who would do what's best for a team, not necessarily for him. But then, opinions are like you know what, everyone has them, and everyone entitled to it.

And this is just your opinion also as you don't know him personally, so you are like a you know what to, Your correct on one thing, this is a personal opinion forum and that was mine. However we will never know what he really would have done will we?

A fluke is when you lose 31-30 but were minus five in turnovers and outgained the other team 2 to 1. 63 points and 600 yards isn't a fluke. We got took behind the woodshed.

Post all the stats you want. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that our performance against SC was an outlier.

This is how I see it as well. If Milton isn't capable of running the offense, Tennessee fans will return to being anxious and neurotic - it will be as if the last year never happened. A relapse to the beaten days. No one will care about 10-3 or 11-2 at that point, they'll just be worried about every big game in 2023 being a blowout loss.

And people will comfort themselves by thinking "well Jackson or Iamaleava can save it next year." And then they'll pin their hopes on the incoming freshman or the backup sophomore, the pressure will increase on them as well, and (mabye) one will step up. Or maybe we'll have a QB mess. Who knows.

Oh and the media will definitely have their knives out for Tennessee, too. "It's not Heupel, it was Hooker." "They're a flash in the pan." All that garbage.

If you have watched Clemson play this year I would like to know what about them makes you think it will be one sided ?

Some truth there but Rattler's performance WAS fluky. He threw some absolutely dimes throughout the game. Passes he hadn't made all year. So many times even when we had decent coverage he would drop a perfect pass. He had the game of his life.

Why do dumbasses in here keep wanting to hold on to the idea that the defense wasn't half-assing the SC game?
Does it make you "feel" good to think it was their best effort? Or any effort at all?

Stupid people gonna stupid

I'm not so sure about Hooker. I truly believe he would have played the bowl game if not injured. Just my opinion. GBO!! Maybe Smokey will tree himself a tiger!!! Go Vols
