We will see where we are heading....

yeah, but it won't be their best qb, top two wideouts and their offensive coordinator though.
As to Milton, I would think the gameplan would be to mix it up even more as far as run/pass and the passes would be more short or intermediate for awhile and the homerun would still be used but only if the defense dictates that; i.e. not throwing into triple coverage. If I was Clemson I would have my defenders playing behind the receivers always if possible on the deep balls, hence Milton's chance of an overthrow & an interception. That said, I'm sure our coaches are much more knowledgeable about what they should do than us. I'm not that confident that Clemson's defense can stop us.

Except they beat Clemson @Clemson the next weekend. They went 8-4 and finished in the Top 25. They legitimately got better as the year went on, nothing lucky about our game.

Now this was a flukey game:

4 turnovers by UT, 2 pick 6's and another FG off a turnovers deep in our territory. South Carolina wasn't nothing like that, they drove at will and outplayed us on both sides of the ball.
In what other game this season did South Carolina perform like that? In the 5 games prior to ours they had 200 yards or less passing. Rattler was pedestrian at best. Even in the Clemson game they didn’t dominate like they did against us. It was an absolute fluke. They scored more often against us than they did against South Carolina State and Vandy. Yes they dominated us but that was outside of the norm. 63 points is a fluke by a team that hadn’t scored like that on anyone all year.

Clemson starting linebacker Trenton Simpson is out of the Orange Bowl with an undisclosed injury, per TigerNet.

It looks as if their other starters will all play.

They have two really good receivers, Antonio Williams and fresh an Cole Turner. They still have Joe Ngata, too.

Their RBs are good (Mafeh) and great (Shipley) despite their 3rd RB, Kobe Pace going in the portal.

It’s great to be a TennVol, it took Ga about 5 yrs to win a natty with Kirby . CJH is going to do it in either 4 or 5 . Building depth and talent is a must. So glad 😀 we are back.

Respectfully disagree here. If Milton continues overthrows and generally does not play well and we get beat then it changes the expectation for next year along with the level of excitement and anticipation. Then we have the Spring to see if either Tayven Jackson or Nico can be a true option for the Fall. Puts a lot of pressure on untested QBs and Heupel.
I don’t know about everyone else but I sure am tired of seeing the comments of overthrows by Milton. Did he make a couple? Sure in a driving rain. And even Hooker occasionally overthrew his receivers as do all quarterbacks. Milton in my opinion is much better than he was last year. But….even if he isn’t he doesn’t deserve the constant criticism. GBO

Think some have overshown their hands by over analyzing the whole over throwing Thing. I wish it was over.

Hyatt can break Meachem’s single season receiving yard record if he plays
Hyatt has an opportunity to really show out and bump his stock. The chances for injury are relatively low, and a good insurance policy is a good idea.

I think Clemson will be more depleted than us.

I don't give any thought to Milton's throws at Vandy. The rain sucked.

Webster's definition of a "fluke" is below, there was nothing "lucky" or "accidental" about South Carolina winning. They beat us straight up. Now the 2020 Kentucky game? That was a fluke. That time Ole Miss beat Bama when Bama had 5 turnovers, those were flukey wins. South Carolina's win wasn't flukey.

This is how I see it as well. If Milton isn't capable of running the offense, Tennessee fans will return to being anxious and neurotic - it will be as if the last year never happened. A relapse to the beaten days. No one will care about 10-3 or 11-2 at that point, they'll just be worried about every big game in 2023 being a blowout loss.

And people will comfort themselves by thinking "well Jackson or Iamaleava can save it next year." And then they'll pin their hopes on the incoming freshman or the backup sophomore, the pressure will increase on them as well, and (mabye) one will step up. Or maybe we'll have a QB mess. Who knows.

Oh and the media will definitely have their knives out for Tennessee, too. "It's not Heupel, it was Hooker." "They're a flash in the pan." All that garbage.
A multi-stacked layer of gloom dooming over an "if" that may or may not even be the case. Sign me up!

And this is just your opinion also as you don't know him personally, so you are like a you know what to, Your correct on one thing, this is a personal opinion forum and that was mine. However we will never know what he really would have done will we?
No we wont, that's a fact

Some truth there but Rattler's performance WAS fluky. He threw some absolutely dimes throughout the game. Passes he hadn't made all year. So many times even when we had decent coverage he would drop a perfect pass. He had the game of his life.

Actually it was a result of them simplifying their offense. It was too difficult and it was throwing the receivers and rattler off. I think I read they went from 19 formations to 5. Makes sense of why rattler played so well in back to back games. That's not a fluke. They basically ran our offense

I agree. If Milton shows out, you have a great one to build on for 2023. He goes into the next season feeling good about his position without looking over his shoulder. If he loses the game based on bad QB play, he knows for certain he is not going to be the man for the upcoming season. He still has a chance if there is a loss if special teams or our defense commits a comedy of errors that hurts the team. I don't think CJH wants that uncertainty if at all possible. Sure, Milton will need to address his deficiencies to come out ahead next year, but it's much better to do that with a bowl win under your arm and not a loss.

SC came out like a boxer to hit us in the head multiple times. We could not regain any sense from the first round. They kept punching us where it hurt. They were aggressive and had the home crowd behind them all the way. Rattler had wings and extra muscles that game. A true fan of the sport would have to concede we had no chance once they started hitting us repeatedly. They outright owned us.

Same thing happened a few years ago with GA State. We were never really in that game either.

It comes down to desire. You can have all the talent in the world, but if the other guy has a stronger desire, he's going to win. Same thing happened with BAMA, except WE had the desire and home crowd behind us.
