Kiffin was not in my first three choices for coach, but he was hired and I supported him because his was Tennessee's head coach. Because of loyally to our University, fans have an obligation to support their their Head Coach until they are retire or are fired. I realize that some of our fans lose their respect for the coaches and therefore lose their respect for their University at the same time. This is why those fans are known as band-wagon fans. A lot of fans who post on this board are band-wagon fans even they claim to be loyal Tennessee fans.Like he was on the right track at SoCal, with a much more talented team even with probation? Ask SoCal fans what they think of him.
And what about "rowrowrow futball" Ed Ogeron completely out coaching him after he left? How bad do you have to be to let THAT dumbass out coach you????
What about deliberately running 1:10 off the clock to try a 43 yard fg when your kicker already missed TWO that day from the same distance and was under 50% from outside 40 for the season? I'm talking bammer 2009 here...if *I* knew we were effed the minute he decided to run the clock out, how could a freaking HEAD COACH not be aware that his kicker suxed from outside 40 yards? And DELIBERATELY run the clock out! That's Forest Gump stupid there.
Best line I have heard on Kiffin goes all the way back to 2008, when word first leaked out that he was the next coach. It was the Friday before Phil's final game, and the sports center talking heads were discussing Kiffin being the new UT coach. Best line was Corso when they asked him for his final thoughts on Kiffin...."I'm still trying to figure out why the Raiders hired him".lol:
I never liked him as coach...I supported him because I had to, and I did like his dad being DC (at least until we played Ole Miss) and his supposed recruiting prowess (for all of which, the best he ever did was no. 9), but I always thought that as an HC he was an extreme reach...of course he turned out to be more a of a "reach around" guy. :lolabove:
Kiffin was a good coach and believe/admit it or not is what we needed at that time. Hamilton and other knew there were going to be secondary violations but that was planned for to bring attention back to the program. If Kiffin would have stayed he woukd have had us competing by now!

it doesnt matter how he would do ...we would be on probation and we would have have a butch of thugs on our roster . If we were not on probation for violations ...we would have some real academic issues that would soon limit our recruiting .
How many of you guys would actually have wanted to coach at USC knowing sanctions were coming that would have tore the program up? I specifically remember being probably the only one that didn't think hiring him here was a good idea and that was reinforced with the UCLA game we should have won! I do have to give him props though how he did with Crompton and the SC win as well as how tight he played Fla and Bama.
