If Vols get through the conference with 1 loss I dont believe they are getting left out. I also dont see how the committee could justify keeping a 1 loss Tenn out.

Agree if we have only 1 loss we will be at least the second best, maybe even the best SEC team - because that implies Bama and UGA have at least 2 losses.

Bama has one more probable loss against LSU and another possible upset when they play Auburn. There is a chance Bama might not make the playoffs this year. There is also a good chance that Georgia loses to Texas, which would knock them out of playoff eligibility because of the loss to Bama.

If the Vols pulls a minor upset and beats Bama this week, I can still see a likely scenario where TN won't make the playoffs, unless they win out. And even if TN wins out, it might come down to the same eye test that kept Florida State out of the playoffs last year.

There are 7 open spots - a 1 loss SEC team is NOT getting left out. The only way that happens is if there are a lot of 1 loss teams. And there would be no issue with the EYE test if Tennessee beats both Bama and UGA.

Alabama has a win against the team that’s ranked fifth in this week's poll. That carries a lot of weight. The way Tennessee’s passing game is operating at the moment, they wouldn’t wax anyone outside of the dregs of college football.

Texas hasn’t played anybody, they have a schedule made in Heaven for any top 6 sec team. We will see how they handle Georgia and the Aggies. The schedule isn’t there fault and maybe they are great as some think but I am not ready to say they tops in the sec simply because they haven’t been tested yet.

A win is a win for Texas or Tennessee. By and large nobody is just dominating teams. A win is a win. Arkansas could easily be 5-0, Florida started slow but still has athletes. Nobody can afford to overlook anybody. We’re 5-1, every week is different comparing scores is silly every week things change. This is a competitive conference, most games aren’t blowouts. The WIN is what counts, and take 1 game at a time! GBO

But projecting the future based on the past isn’t a guarantee your thinking will be right. Teams can get better and or adjust. Things can start to click. Just to assume all teams will stay the same is silly. From one week to next things change, that’s what makes college football great. And the end of the day the W is the most important thing. GBO

They got crushed by Georgia. And other than UGA, they literally have not played a team with a winning record. We share a common opponent in NC State, and we won more convincingly.

We will be back in the top 8 if we beat Bama and they will likely be knocked out of the playoff race. 10-2 should get us in if our only other loss is to UGA.

I really feel like this game between Tennessee and Alabama is a playoff elimination game. If we lose at home to Bama, I feel we will drop another one. If Alabama loses to us, with a struggling offense, don’t think the new coach can hold the team together, and they will lose again as well. Bama struggles defensively, we struggle offensively. Our strength is defense, their strength is offense. I think we hold the edge in special teams. The line says Bama by 3, usually home team gets 3 points. To me, this is basically a pick’em. Hate to state the obvious, but Nico will have to make some plays out of nothing to pull this off. I believe 28 points will be needed to win by either team. My worry is penalties for us, and our offense, we’ve been shut out at the half for 2 consecutive games. Can we score enough points to offset their QB and WR?, because I think they will hit some plays against us on the ground and through the air. The McCoy vs Williams match up will be intriguing. Go Vols!
