Some of you folks with more info than I...anyone know how the players are reacting to the new coaches. I am pretty sure they are with the strength coaches now. Any info would be appreciated!

I think I remember hearing Devrin Young threw up during a session with the new S & C coach. That's all I've got.

If our S & C coaches are working them so hard they're throwing up then they're really pushing them hard and that's a really good thing.

That will make us tough in the 4th quarter where games are won alot of times.

I don't expect our O to have the firepower this year to score at will and blow anyone out early but it would be nice if we did.

Hopefully they hate, but respect the S&C coach. Work there butt off so there conditioned, tough, and ready.

Butch said they will run a no huddle offense, so the conditioning is extremely vital, especially without a very deep roster.

Run 'em like hell. They need the mental toughness gained through such experiences. The body can keep going much longer than your mind thinks it can.

I would absolutely love to hear an inside look on this.

I've seen a tweet that mentioned the that workouts were "for real". And saw a couple of pics by the Vol Football twitter account that showed the guys working hard.

Doesn't one of TOS run updates on this at some point? But surely someone's heard more than about vomit and hard workouts? Anyone?

I doubt Butch will let any of the guys mouth off to this S&C coach. I just hope he can develop more speed in his first year.

I can appreciate the enthusiasm for sure but used to regularly throw up during early morning conditioning while in school and it ain't because I was being worked so hard. It was because I was out the night prior being a college student who was extremely thirsty.

I remember during the Troy game they talked about their program including telephone poles, etc. It was impressive and they definitely didn't fade down the stretch.

This is an area that can turn 2&3 stars into 4&5 stars. Also an area that we have fell behind on IMHO.

So in the video, Tiny talks about it not being like "body builders" but like "athletes" with a high-rep approach instead of high-weight. James talks about being the "best conditioned team out there" so "we can win the fourth quarter".

I know both of those comments were "team speak". But, they made me wonder if the previous S&C coach (who I thought was awesome) didn't focus enough on endurance. Being huge only helps until you're gassed. And if that happens before the clock hits zero, it's no help.

Not to be obsessive, but I'd still love for someone to post some specific stories about some players in relation to the weight training. I'm still detoxing from Da'Rick throwing weights at people. Would love to hear something more than Posey lifted a bunch and the whole team cheered him on.

I was talking to a friend in the law school today when his younger brother came over. His brother is a freshman here, and he has a class with Danny O'Brien. He said that according to Dan, the new strength coach is killing them, and the way he is doing it is incredible (in my opinion).

Apparently, the guy isn't someone who yells and cusses all the time, but he does watch them during their workouts really closely. When they finish, if any of them did the lifts wrong, then they have to do it all over again. Like, they have to complete the workout again.

I thought that was, not only hilarious, but also a really good lesson. In my opinion, it teaches the team to do the small things right. Each lift is important, and if you don't treat it as such there will be consequences.

I can't imagine the old staff taking that approach.

(Now, I obviously can't corroborate this stuff, because I'm working my tits off in the basement of the law library, or at least I should be. However, it seems pretty awesome if true.)

Thanks, that is what I wanted to see~Hard Football Work! Just thinking about this makes me think of the great movie Coach Carter -Basketball Movie. Great movie with tremendous attention to conditioning!

I also think that "Coach Carter" is an excellent movie.

Locking the gym and cancelling a game to force the players to get serious about their classes and grades was a great message to send to kids that play sports or any other kids for that matter.

Work em hard S & C coaches and lets shock some teams in the 4th quarter!

VFL...GBO!!!
